Zwide Development Forum (ZDF) proudly looks back on our Mandela Week activities, where community members, young people, partners and volunteers came together in the spirit of service, solidarity and meaningful community development.

From sport and youth engagement to poverty alleviation, access to services and community mobilisation, our message remained clear:

A better Zwide is built by all of us, together. 🤝🏾

We would like to thank everyone who participated, supported and contributed to making these activities meaningful.

🌱 ZDF | MAKING A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY 🤝🏾

Today, the Zwide Development Forum (ZDF) had the privilege of working alongside Third-Year Social Work students from Nelson Mandela University (NMU) to assist learners in our community who are in need of birth certificates.

A birth certificate is more than just a document — it is a gateway to accessing essential services and opportunities. Through this initiative, we are helping ensure that children who qualify can access the SASSA Child Support Grant and other social services, while also supporting their basic needs and wellbeing.

This is what community partnership and meaningful engagement look like — bringing together community organisations, students and institutions to identify challenges and find practical solutions.

👏🏾 ZDF applauds the commitment of the NMU Social Work students for joining us in making a difference in the lives of our learners.

Together, we can continue building a stronger, more caring and empowered community — one learner, one family and one community at a time. ❤️

Community initiatives are very dear to our hearts as they are who we are, and speak much about human dignity!✨

We implemented a successful food drive in collaboration with the Peddie Development Centre, where we donated 100 food packs to 100 community members.

Today, we visited four schools in Zwide following concerns about access to sanitary pads and nutrition support. It was found that many learners without birth certificates are excluded from receiving essential support, including food allocations.

Schools also raised challenges such as absent parents, children living with grandparents, and social issues affecting families. ZDF remains committed to working with schools, stakeholders, and government departments to ensure every learner receives the dignity, care, and support they deserve.

The recent floods have severely affected our communities, undermining human dignity as many families are forced to live in water-damaged homes, with essential belongings destroyed or rendered unusable.

As the Zwide Development Forum, we stand together in solidarity with everyone impacted during this difficult time. We have launched a donation drive to assist affected families and individuals. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. Remember, “a helping hand is priceless, and together we are stronger.”
