🚴 Herald Cycle Tour – Road Closures in Our Area🚴

The Herald Cycle Tour is celebrating its big 40th birthday on 14 and 15 February with their annual cycling tour, and several roads will be closed — including some within our area. They will be passing by us on Sunday, 15 February.

Get ready — the cyclists will be taking on one of the most scenic and action‑packed stretches of the tour right here in our neighbourhood!
From Old Seaview Road, riders will power their way up the climb on Lakeside Road, before sweeping onto the beautiful stretch of Kragga Kamma Road. They’ll enjoy a fast descent before pushing up Butterfield Road, then looping back onto Lakeside for another energetic run.

From there, they’ll glide onto Seaview Road and make a quick turn into charming Altona Road, before joining the open flow of Draaifontein Road. The route then leads onto Old Cape Road, all the way to the St Albans turn‑off, where riders take on another exciting section before looping back onto Draaifontein.

With momentum building, the cyclists will push toward De Stades Road, before sweeping onto Maitlands Road, taking in the last of our area’s stunning views as they ride out toward the next leg of their adventure.

It’s a beautiful, challenging, and high‑energy section — and we are right in the heart of the action!

Elke donasie – groot of klein – maak ’n verskil.

🌾🔥 Farm Comm Appreciation Post 🔥🌾

While much of South Africa is enjoying rain, our coastal regions in the Eastern Cape and parts of the Western Cape are battling severe drought and devastating veldfires. These fires have destroyed grazing land, threatened homes, and forced road closures.

We want to extend a massive thank you to:

✅ Firefighters working around the clock
✅ Our own FarmComm Fire Team and members
✅ Local farmers and volunteers who dropped everything to help
✅ Municipal teams and Working on Fire crews for their tireless efforts

Your courage and commitment are saving lives, livestock, and livelihoods. 💪

To the public:

Please do not stop to watch the fires or damaged property. Doing so creates congestion, making it harder for emergency teams to operate effectively. These fires are destroying people’s homes and livelihoods—it is heartbreaking for those affected to see spectators gathering instead of helping.

Stopping near a fire is also extremely dangerous for you. If you are driving through an affected area:

Keep moving to allow emergency vehicles and volunteers space to work. Please avoid stopping near fire zones. It creates congestion and puts you at risk. Keep headlights on, follow diversions, and use alternative routes if smoke is heavy.

Together, we can protect our communities.

Stay safe and stay alert! 🙏

🌟 Thank You & A New Year’s Reminder 🌟

As we step into 2026, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our Farm Comm members and every supporter who stood by us this year. Your dedication, kindness, and unity have made an incredible difference — even in the toughest moments. We truly appreciate you!

As we celebrate, let’s also keep our community safe:

✅ Fireworks – Please avoid using fireworks. With the current drought, the risk of fires is extremely high. Fireworks can harm not only property but also pets, wildlife, and even people.
✅ Drinking & Driving – Never drink and drive. Let’s make sure everyone gets home safely.
✅ Look out for one another – Safety first, always.

Together, we can welcome the new year responsibly and protect the community we love.

Thank you for being part of Farm Comm — here’s to a safe, joyful, and united 2026!

As fires have begun to flare up again in our area, the Farm Comm Committee kindly asks that you keep our teams in your thoughts, and that everyone remains safe.

We also ask that if you are traveling into our area—or any area currently affected by fires—you please turn on your headlights and reduce your speed. If visibility becomes too poor, do not put your own life or the lives of others at risk. Instead, please turn around and use an alternative route.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Yesterday, our community faced a frightening and challenging situation as fires broke out in our area. In the midst of it all, the response we witnessed was nothing short of extraordinary.

To all Farm Comm fire team members, volunteers, and every individual who stepped up during the fires — thank you. Your courage, selflessness, and willingness to put your own lives at risk to protect others does not go unnoticed.

A special thank you to our fire team for your incredible bravery and tireless efforts in containing the flames and safeguarding lives and property. Your quick action, determination, and teamwork were truly heroic.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the medical team for your rapid response, professionalism, and vital assistance during such a critical time. Your support made a real and meaningful difference.

To every member of the community who brought supplies, offered help, checked in, or supported in any way — big or small — please know that every contribution mattered and was deeply appreciated.

As the Farm Comm Committee, we are extremely proud of our community and incredibly grateful to be part of such an amazing team. Yesterday was a powerful reminder of the strength, unity, and heart that defines Farm Comm. When it mattered most, you showed up for one another — and that means everything.
