The Vales Neighbourhood Watch (VNHW) patrollers join hands with the thin blue line of the South African Police Service (SAPS). We have 70 dedicated patrollers who patrol the following areas, referred to as the Vales: Adcockvale, Perridgevale, Parsonshill, Greenacres Villages, Glendinningvale and Millard Grange.
In partnership with SAPS and other relevant role-players, such as security companies, the VNHW provide a supportive initiative to be the eyes, ears and voice of SAPS with the aim of crime prevention. *As a patrol group* it involves residents becoming more proactive and aware to the risks of crime and taking action to protect their own property and that of their neighbours.
Our action involves patrolling and reporting suspected activities and improving home security, which reduce opportunities for crime.
The purpose of a patroller is to send a clear message to criminals that the VNHW don’t tolerate crime in our sector; maintain high visibility; build a reputation as a trustworthy role- player; promote a favourable and trusting image amongst our community and other stakeholders and be a competent witness.
