Seeing the good. Building on the good. Growing the good.

Our Beyond learners recently participated in an engaging Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) workshop facilitated by Amandla Development and held at .

The session explored the What, Why, Who, When, and How of ABCD, while also giving learners practical experience in planning and coordinating community events and activations. Through interactive discussions and asset mapping activities, learners identified the many strengths that already exist within their communities—from financial, physical, social, institutional, and human assets to technology and networks that can open doors to future opportunities.

By understanding how to leverage community resources and stakeholder relationships, learners are not only becoming more effective community leaders but are also preparing themselves for the next step after Year Beyond, whether that is work, study, entrepreneurship, or further personal development.

Strong communities are built when young people recognize that the solutions and opportunities they need may already exist within their own communities.

🇿🇦✨ HAPPY YOUTH DAY ✨🇿🇦

This Youth Day, as we commemorate 50 years since the historic events of 1976, we are reminded that the future of our nation rests in the hands of today's young people.

RESET@50 – The Future Calls
Our National Commitment to the Future, for Freedom Lives in Every Generation.

At Amandla Development, we believe that every young person deserves access to opportunities, support, information, and safe spaces where they can thrive. Through our Safe Spaces, young people can access sexual and reproductive health services, HIV and STI testing, PrEP, PEP, psycho-social support, and youth-friendly programmes designed to help them make informed decisions about their futures.

Today, we celebrate the resilience, courage, creativity, and potential of South Africa's youth. Together, let us continue to equip, empower, and support a generation that will shape a brighter tomorrow.

💬✨ Real conversations. Safe spaces. Brighter futures.

At Samora Safe Space, young people are learning the facts they need to make informed decisions about their health, relationships, and future. 🌱

This week, adolescents and youth joined our sexual psycho-educational group for the very first time, alongside the support of their parents and caregivers. Together, they explored topics such as pregnancy prevention, HIV prevention, consent, healthy relationships, and responsible decision-making in a safe, judgment-free environment.

When parents and caregivers are part of the conversation, it helps build trust, strengthen communication at home, and empowers young people to access the support and services they need with confidence. ❤️

📍 Sexual health education and family planning services are available at Samora Safe Space:
🕘 Monday–Friday | 09:00–16:30

Young people are always welcome.

🚨 “I don’t feel safe at school.” That’s not just a statistic — it’s the reality for too many young people in Philippi.

Our Ready to Learn Survey 2025 heard from over 11,000 learners, and the results are heavy:
• 💔 47% don’t always feel safe on the way to school
• 🏫 43% don’t always feel safe at school
• 🚔 84% have witnessed crime at school
• 😟 49% worry about being physically hurt by other learners
These numbers are real people. Real classrooms. Real communities.
But here’s the thing: young people’s voices matter. Your story matters.
We want to hear from you 👇
1. What makes you feel unsafe in your community or at school?
2. What support do young people need most right now?
3. What would help schools and communities feel safer for everyone?

Drop a comment, share your experience, or tag someone who should be part of this conversation. Let’s turn lived experiences into real change.
Because school should be a place to learn, grow, and feel safe — not a place to survive.

As Child Protection Week comes to an end, our commitment to protecting children continues every day.

This week, Amandla Development joined hands with families, schools, community leaders, and young people to raise awareness, share knowledge, and strengthen our communities' ability to keep children safe.

Every conversation matters. Every action counts. Every child deserves to grow up safe, protected, and empowered.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with us in saying NO to violence against children and YES to safer communities.

Together, we protect. Together, we empower. Together, we make a difference.

01/06/2026

Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, protected, and empowered.

As we commemorate Child Protection Week, Amandla Development calls on all parents, caregivers, educators, community leaders, and young people to stand together in protecting our children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence.

Children are our future, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure they grow up in environments where they can learn, dream, and reach their full potential.

Together, we can build safer communities and brighter futures for every child.

Protect a child. Listen to a child. Support a child.
