This Women’s Month, we honour the strength of mothers—and the importance of ensuring that every woman has access to the knowledge, encouragement and support she needs throughout her breastfeeding journey. 💗

For Thandi, fear initially stood in the way of breastfeeding. But when her baby girl, Babalwa, experienced a serious reaction to formula, compassionate medical guidance helped her overcome her anxiety and rebuild her milk supply. Today, both mother and baby are thriving.

As we mark Breastfeeding Month, Thandi’s story reminds us that mothers need support, not judgement. With trusted information and professional care, women can feel empowered to make informed decisions for themselves and their babies.

For Anela, watching her children finally receive the surgery they had waited so long for meant one thing: HOPE ♥️

Okumiyo and Avile struggled with their vision for years, affecting school, play and everyday life. Through our donor-funded Surgical Weekend Waiting List Project, they were finally able to receive the surgery they needed at Tygerberg Hospital.

This Women’s Month, we honour mothers like Anela, and the strength and love they carry for their children.

Because donor support doesn’t just fund surgery. It gives children the chance to see clearly, learn, play and grow with confidence.

This is the impact of the Surgical Weekend Waiting List Project. This is what your support makes possible. ❤️

Help us give more children the care they’ve been waiting for. Donate today by visiting www.childrenshospitaltrust.org.za

There are women who make an impact, and then there are women who turn their own story into a purpose. ❤️

This Women’s Month, we celebrate a true Woman of Impact.

From a young age, Cadi understood the importance of giving back. Even while facing her own health challenges, she encouraged donations towards the ICU Unit, wanting to help other children who were going through what she was experiencing.

And her diagnosis didn’t define her future. It inspired it.

Through her own journey, Cadi discovered a passion for helping children and made the decision to study towards becoming a paediatrician, turning her experience into a purpose to care for, advocate for and change the lives of other children.

Her story is a reminder that sometimes, the greatest impact begins with the smallest act of kindness, and that our own experiences can become the very reason we choose to make a difference. 💗

This Women’s Month, we’re shining a light on a young Woman of Impact, with a heart for children and a future dedicated to changing lives. 💗

Thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors, the Surgical Weekend Waiting List Project is giving children like eight-year-old Valencia access to life-changing surgery. ♥️

After overcoming tuberculosis meningitis, Valencia developed an eye condition that affected her vision, concentration and confidence. Now, at Tygerberg Hospital, she can finally undergo the surgery she needs for a brighter future.

This project, and the hope it brings to families like Valencia’s is only possible because of compassionate supporters who choose to make a difference.

This Women’s Month, we honour women like Linda Whitfield Fredman, mothers whose strength carries their families through the unimaginable.

When her son suffered severe burns, Linda stood firmly by his side throughout his treatment at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. Through fear, uncertainty and a long road to recovery, her love remained constant.

An Executive Trustee of the The Harry Crossley Children's Nursing Development Unit , Linda also reflects on the hospital’s incredible 70-year journey and the vital role it continues to play in the lives of children and their families.

Her story reminds us that strength is not always loud. Sometimes, it is a mother showing up every day, holding on to hope and refusing to let her child face the toughest moments alone.

Here’s to Linda, and to every woman whose courage and care make healing possible. 💜

Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month 💚

What is cerebral palsy, and what signs should parents look out for?

In this month’s awareness feature, Physiotherapist Zaahida Shaboodien from Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital explains what cerebral palsy is, how it can affect a child’s movement and development, and the early signs parents can look out for.

From delayed developmental milestones and changes in muscle tone, to difficulties with movement, balance or coordination, recognising possible signs early can help children receive the assessment, intervention and support they need.

Every child develops at their own pace. If you have concerns about your child’s development, don’t ignore them, speak to a healthcare professional.

Because early recognition can open the door to early support, and every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. 💚

🌷 Happy Women’s Day 🌷

Today, we celebrate the women whose love knows no limits.

The mothers who hold little hands a little tighter.
Who turn fear into courage, tears into comfort, and difficult days into moments of hope.
The mothers who advocate, protect, nurture and love, often putting their children before themselves.

Motherhood isn’t always easy. It can be messy, exhausting, overwhelming and beautifully imperfect. But in the eyes of a child, a mother is often their safest place in the world. ❤️

Today, we celebrate every mother, grandmother, caregiver, daughter, sister and woman who pours love into the lives of others.

To the women who raise, nurture and inspire the next generation, we see you, we celebrate you, and we honour you.

Happy Women’s Day. 🌸
