Greetings

We are already halfway through 2026. Can you believe that?

The first part of this year has seen us just putting one foot in front of the other.

We have said goodbye to 2 of our babies, well, one was already 6years old, to their forever families. Saying goodbye to children who have been part of your family and hearts for a lengthy period of time is devastating on so many levels, yet rewarding on others. Knowing you have helped to set them up with what they need to have a successful future is really heartwarming.
The adoption of another little one, who was adopted by our care family, came through! Congratulations, Burgess family!

We visit with our care families on a rotational basis. Moving from Fish Hoek to Somerset West to Hopefield and Durbanville. We love these times of connection, seeing the babies and supporting each other.

The need for places of safety has really escalated. So many children need safe places. This is mostly in the foster care area and emergency placements.

We have been so blessed with the big donation we received in 2024. Sadly, it is coming to an end now. We are trusting God for more of the same. We are still making an effort to do some fundraising. Our monthly donor is still supporting us faithfully; however, this does not cover the monthly costs.

We tried a Thrift swop market, it was fun and supported by the community. We will definitely be doing some markets with our leftover stock closer to the end of the year!

We have another fundraiser planned for this year that we are really looking forward to. It is a Spring Tea at Clovelly Country Club on 5 September. We will have a few guest speakers, and of course, our Care families will be attending where possible.

We have said goodbye to Graham Haddad after an 11-year journey of his support as a board member. Thanks, Graham, we appreciate all your valuable input to make Naomi’s Joy what it is today!

Our love

🌍 Child Protection Week 🇿🇦 | Theme: “Working together in ending violence against children”

This week, we stand united to protect the most vulnerable members of our society — our children. In South Africa, our Constitution places the highest value on the rights, dignity, and equality of every child.

Violence, exploitation, and abuse have no place in our communities. Article 28 of our Constitution is clear: it is our duty to protect and uplift our children.

Let’s work together to create safe spaces, raise awareness, and build a future where every child feels loved, protected, and free to thrive. 💚🕊️

As South Africa observes Child Protection Week (29 May – 6 June), we are reminded that protecting children is everyone’s responsibility.

Every child deserves to grow up safe, loved, protected, and surrounded by care. 💚

At Give a Child a Family Africa, we believe child protection begins long before crisis. It starts by strengthening families, supporting caregivers, and responding early when families face challenges.

Because protecting children is not only about responding after harm has occurred — it is about prevention, family support, and creating safe environments where children can thrive. ✨

This Child Protection Week, we invite you to stand with us in protecting childhoods, strengthening families, and helping ensure that every child grows up with the love, stability, and belonging they deserve.

Some American families are understandably put off from adopting from South Africa because they have to stay for several weeks (ask ). Others embrace this time to create family memories in each of the many beautiful places on our doorstep here in the Western Cape. We’ve even had families say at the end of their adventure that they are not ready to leave! Here is one of our precious families soaking up all that the Cape has to offer. . Written in 2012, this poem/song reflects my desire to live in the new creation nature, the finished work of Christ's death and resurrection, and not according to my old nature and past. This is my new nature and that is my old nature, inspired by a message I heard that spoke to my heart. Enjoy

Fear doesn’t always come on its own.

Often, there’s something underneath it—
questions, worries, and “what ifs” that feel hard to carry.

“What will my family say?”
“What if I’m not ready?”
“What if I regret my decision?”

If your mind feels full of these thoughts,
you’re not alone.

Sometimes, talking it through can help bring clarity
and make things feel a little less overwhelming.

We’re here to listen—whenever you’re ready 🤍Send us a PM.

Many women facing an unplanned pregnancy feel a mix of emotions—fear, confusion, pressure, even numbness. An unplanned pregnancy can bring a wave of different emotions. You can feel two, or more, things at once.

You might feel scared… and still care deeply.

Overwhelmed… and still wondering “what if?”

Unsure… and still trying to figure things out.

It’s okay if your emotions feel mixed or unclear.

It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong—
it means you’re human, with a lot to think through.

If your thoughts feel tangled or heavy,
you don’t have to sort through them on your own.

Whatever you’re feeling right now—you’re not alone. We’re here to listen, not judge.
