Lisa Atkins met with Clayton Risk from Better Edenvale at the Eden Mall Taxi Rank on Voortrekker Rd yesterday morning to discuss potential collaborative efforts aimed at improving the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our CBD Area.

They conducted a thorough examination of various concerns and established a priority list.

This morning the stormwater and sewerage lines within the taxi rank were cleared of years of accumulated sand and plastics with the help of Arthur Claasen from AJC Plumbing and Trevor Quiggley from Roto-Rooter.

This was necessary to prevent the constant flow of water onto Voortrekker Rd, which created hazardous potholes. With the road now dry, we can repair extensive sections of damaged road.

Our Team successfully delivered 795kg of Bottle Tops to BDS Plastico within a two-day timeframe in aid of Tops & Tags for Wheelchairs.

This achievement was made possible by the strategically placed Bottle Top Hearts in schools and parks throughout the Edenvale Area. This is indeed a commendable accomplishment.

Essentially Edenvale Community Volunteers is dedicated to building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable community through impactful initiatives such as clean-up operations, recycling, environmental control, road gutter cleaning, and kerb painting.

We actively foster community involvement and partnerships with local businesses through programmes like our Adopt-an-Island initiative, alongside broader upliftment, youth development, and social impact projects.

In addition, we support vulnerable individuals and partner organisations through social development efforts — including the collection and distribution of essential items such as baby goods (nappies, clothing, blankets), as well as women’s clothing and toiletries.

Through these combined efforts, we aim to transform Edenvale into a cleaner, more inclusive community. To continue and expand this vital work, we seek your support.
