Researchers compared the two approaches directly, using data from the CAPRISA 004 tenofovir gel trial, in which 889 HIV-negative South African women were followed for up to 34 months with ge***al signs and symptoms recorded at monthly visits.

Our Head of Vaccine Research Doctor Nivashnee Naicker at the Provincial Stakeholder Engagement meeting on the"Elimination of Cervical Cancer in South Africa: A Strategic and Implementation Framework 2026 – 2030".

Some of the objectives of this 2-day meeting:

- To ensure all provincial stakeholders have a shared understanding of South Africa’s cervical cancer elimination goals, targets, and timelines, in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) 90–70–90 strategy

- Incorporate inputs from civil society to better understand barriers to access, demand-side challenges, and community-driven solutions that can improve uptake of services
