Ingane Yami

Recue a child. Rebuild a family. Restore a life. Release a leader

Ingane Yami (meaning "My Child" in Zulu) is a Children's Village located in Shongweni/Dassenhoek KZN. Our vision is to rescue previously orphaned and abandoned children and restore the life that God intended for them. Through the love of a mom, a safe environment, being introduced to God as their father and an excellent education, our children's God-given potential is realized. At Ingane Yami our children are not just a faceless number, but they are a prized and cherished individual, that God knows by name.

September is International Literacy Month! 📚

At Ingane Yami, we have seen firsthand the power that books can have on a child’s development.

From strengthening their confidence in speaking, to expanding their vocabulary and imagination, and providing a special opportunity to bond with their mom through nightly reading, books play a huge part in our Village life.

On Wednesday 16 September, we are celebrating one of our favourite authors, Dr Seuss! 🎉

Come and join us as our kids take to the stage, alongside pupils from St Mary's DSG, Kloof, Thomas More College, Curro_hillcrest_schools, Kloof Junior Primary, Winston Park Primary School & KLOOF HIGH SCHOOL.

📍 Open Skies Kloof
⏱️ 17:00 for 18:00

Tickets can be purchased via Zapper or at the door.

And if you share our love of books, why not plan to buy a book to gift to our kids from the Dorene stand? 📖

We can’t wait to celebrate the joy of reading with you!

Mark your calendars 🙌🏼🎉

A Dr. Seuss inspired collaborative event, to celebrate the love of books & our children’s creative talents 📚🎶🪩

Ingane Yami Golf Day 2026 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

What an incredible day!

The sun was out, the wind held off, and everyone on the golf course had a massive smile (most of the time 😜) as we rallied together to raise funds and awareness for Ingane Yami.

Thank you to all of our golfers, hole sponsors and prize sponsors who made this day such a success (shout-outs below)! Your generosity will have a massive impact on the lives of our children. ❤️

And a massive thank you to Courtney Jade Theunissen for organising the day! You are a beautiful example of using what God has put in your hands to make a difference. We are so grateful! 🙏🏼

A very exciting day at the Village, as SPAR took home the trophy at the Ingane Yami Mandela Day Soccer Tournament (Day 2).

We have 2 tournaments these days, as we want to create space for all of our committed sponsors to join in.
Today Encore, Engage, My SPAR, Energy Drive Compass Visual Security & DBC Packaging joined us for a few hours of serious competition!

In the end Energy Drive took the win in our semi-competitive division.
And as mentioned, My SPAR took the win in the competitive division.

A massive shout out to our braai guys and moms who managed to serve 200 people+ with delicious prego rolls and treats (provided by Richdens SUPERSPAR )
And to the rest of our staff who came together to make this event possible.

And of course, THANK YOU to all of our sponsors who really have gone out of their way to connect with us and our kids.

In true Mandela Day style, today reflected the unity and teamwork that Madiba fought so hard to earn for our beautiful country 🇿🇦🌈

Another AMAZING Mandela Day Soccer Tournament!

12 years strong (since 2013; with a 2 year break during COVID), and each year it continues to be a highlight on our calendar.

Community. Connection. A chance to bless our sponsors, as they have blessed us throughout the year.

Today Bidtrack WON the semi-competitive league.
And Amcor Official WON the trophy in the competitive league
== both through fierce finals, and tough games!

We loved hosting Flash , Amcor Official Bidtrack New Frontiers Tours and Powafix Pty Ltd today 🙌🏼

Tomorrow, we’ll host another 8 corporates.
We wonder who will take the trophy then?
