What a beautiful day it’s been! 🌤️

From stitching pillows & pillowcases in our sewing program, to baking fresh scones + muffins in the bakery… Khwezi and Elomso from our after-school program spent time reading, colouring & playing games.

Our kitchen team cooked and served warm samp & beans to the kids and elderly- perfect for this chilly weather.

And by God’s grace, The South African Red Cross Society blessed us with fresh vegetables, which we shared with the community too. Grateful for every hand, every smile, and every blessing today. 🙏

We were honored to have Ntokozo Blessing come through to assist in training our volunteers and making some beautiful baked goods together.

Our kitchen also cooked up a meal of nutritious soup-mix with rice for the kids, and we saw so many happy faces during dish up.
Big shoutout to our volunteers who took part in our programs - the meal that was prepared, and the scones and other bakes came out amazing!

This is why we share and support. Every morning, kids are getting warm porridge before school - for many, it’s the only meal they’ll have until the afternoon.

Hunger makes it hard to learn, focus, and just be a kid. But with a little help, we can make sure no child starts their day on an empty stomach.

R30 feeds 10 children for a day.

Looking for a fun, safe place after school where learning never stops?
Our After School Program is open;
Monday to Friday
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
kids aged 5-12 years old!

We’ve got:
📚 Homework help & tutoring
🎨 Creative arts & crafts
⚽ Sports & games
🔬 STEM & hands-on activities
🍎 Snacks provided
✅ All in a safe, supervised environment

We’re collecting new or gently used sewing machines to equip and empower women in our community with practical skills, independence, and a way to earn income for their families.

Today at Mission Thando SA 💛

It’s been a full and beautiful day! We served warm meals of mixed-soup and rice to the kids and elderly in our community.

We also kicked off our Bakery Sessions – the ovens are on and the baking has officially started! 🍞. And our After-School Program is running as usual. We’re so happy to welcome the kids in for learning, support, and a safe space after school.

Today’s Feeding: Curry Potato & Rice 🥔🍛

Today at Mission Thando SA we served warm potato curry and rice to the children and elderly in our community.

For many, this was more than a meal. It was dignity, warmth, and the reminder that they are not forgotten.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat” - Matthew 25:35

We couldn’t do this without the support of people who believe every person deserves a full plate. But the need is still there.

Bread = Love in Action 🍞❤️

We received a generous donation of Albany bread yesterday, and it went straight to the children in our care.

For many of our kids, a simple sandwich means:
🍞 A full tummy - No child should learn on an empty stomach
📚 Better focus at school - Nutrition supports education
😊 Dignity - Knowing someone cares

Every loaf makes a difference. Thank you to our donor for helping us fight hunger, one slice at a time.

Partnership in Action ❤️ | World Red Cross Day 2026

Mission Thando SA was proud to stand alongside The South African Red Cross Society today for World Red Cross Day.

Theme: "Cross-Cultural Learning: Organisations Serving Humanity to Alleviate Human Suffering”

Thank you to SARCS for the generous support: Imana soups, Huletts sugar, tea for kids, sweet potatoes, books for our After-School Programme, and plates, cups & spoons for the children.

Together we prepared hot meals, donated essentials, and painted to uplift the space. This is how we serve with humanity.
