🚑 CERT-SA IS COMING TO YOUR SCHOOL! 🚨

What would your child do if someone suddenly collapsed, a classmate was injured, or they found themselves in an emergency?

Would they know who to call?
Would they know what to do?
Would they know how to help?

At CERT-SA, we believe emergency preparedness starts at a young age.

Our CERT-SA School Visits bring practical, age-appropriate emergency and safety education directly to learners — helping them understand what to do when every second counts.

From first aid and CPR awareness to fire safety, emergency numbers, road safety and personal safety, we make learning about emergencies practical, engaging and memorable.

Because one day, the person who needs to know what to do could be someone they love.

And we want our children to be ready.

🏫 Schools — let’s get your learners emergency-ready!

MOTORCYCLE-PEDESTRIAN COLLISION LEAVES PEDESTRIAN INJURED

On Friday evening at approximately 18:15, the CERT Centurion crew responded to a motorcycle-pedestrian collision on Hendrik Verwoerd Drive.

Upon arrival, crews found that a motorcyclist had collided with a pedestrian who was making his way home. The pedestrian sustained a fractured leg, as well as abrasions to his face and hand.

The patient was assessed, treated, and stabilised on scene before being transported by Emergency Medical Solutions to a nearby healthcare facility in a stable condition for further medical care.

We would like to sincerely thank Emergency Medical Solutions for the transportation and continued care of the patient. We also extend our appreciation to ER24 EMS (Pty) Ltd., PRSS Holdings, Scorpion Risk Services, First Help Towing, and all other services who assisted on scene for their professionalism and cooperation.

Road Safety Reminder

Hendrik Verwoerd Drive is a busy area with a number of businesses and significant pedestrian and vehicle movement. Some sections of the road are also poorly lit, particularly after dark.

Motorists are urged to exercise additional caution when travelling through the area, especially during the evening. Reduce speed, remain alert for pedestrians and cyclists, and ensure that you are able to see clearly ahead.

Pedestrians are also encouraged to remain vigilant when walking alongside or crossing busy roads, particularly after dark.

ASSAULT LEAVES PATIENT WITH HEAD AND FACIAL INJURIES

On Friday evening at around 21:00, the CERT Centurion crew responded to a report of an assault on Cantonment Road in the greater Lyttelton area.

The call was received from local security, and our crew mobilised to assist the security personnel and Lyttelton SAPS already on scene.

Upon arrival, crews found a middle-aged male patient who had sustained head and facial injuries after reportedly being assaulted with a rock. The patient was assessed and received initial medical care on scene before being transported by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services to a nearby healthcare facility in a stable condition for further medical care.

The incident is being investigated further by Lyttelton SAPS.

We would like to thank Lyttelton South African Police Service, Fidelity ADT, PRSS Holdings, Monitor Net, staff from the City of Tshwane, Gauteng Emergency Medical Services, and all other services who assisted on scene. We greatly appreciate the professionalism and cooperation shown by everyone involved.

Medical Emergency Safety Reminder :

If you come across someone who has been assaulted or seriously injured, the best assistance you can provide is to keep the person safe, contact emergency medical services, and remain with them until help arrives.

Please do not administer medication or painkillers to an injured person unless directed to do so by a medical professional. Medication can affect a patient’s condition and may interfere with the assessment and treatment that emergency medical personnel need to provide.

If someone is bleeding or injured, focus on keeping them safe and comfortable while waiting for trained medical assistance.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION LEAVES PATIENT MODERATELY INJURED

On Friday evening at just before 23:00, the CERT Centurion crew responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on the N14, near the R55.

Upon arrival, our crew found one female patient who had sustained moderate injuries. The patient was assessed, treated, and stabilised on scene before being transported by FunCure to a nearby healthcare facility for further medical care.

Due to the location and conditions of the incident, scene safety was a key priority throughout the response. The N14 is a busy roadway, and the incident occurred during hours of darkness. Our crew worked to ensure that the scene remained as safe as possible for the patient, emergency medical personnel, towing personnel, and all other responders operating in the area.

We would like to sincerely thank AfriForum Centurion Buurtwag, SDS Protection, Emergency Medical Solutions, First Help Towing, and all other personnel who assisted on scene for their cooperation and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Road Safety Reminder

When approaching an accident scene, particularly on a busy highway at night, reduce your speed and remain alert. Emergency responders, ambulances, tow trucks, and other vehicles may be operating close to or within the roadway.

Please give emergency personnel sufficient space to work safely and follow any instructions from officials on scene. Your cooperation can help protect both responders and other road users.

⛽ FUEL FRIDAY | THANK YOU, Engen Lyttelton Motors ! 🚑

Tonight, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Shazim and the team at Lyttelton Motors in Lyttelton, Centurion, for standing behind CERT-SA and our community.

This week, Lyttelton Motors generously sponsored a full tank of diesel for our operations across the Greater Centurion area. Even more importantly, they have pledged to provide a tank of diesel every single month. That commitment means more than we can put into words. ❤️

Tonight alone, our team has already responded to 5 calls, and we’re still pushing forward. Every tank of fuel helps us get to the next emergency, assist the next patient and remain available to the community when they need us most.

It is because of businesses like Lyttelton Motors, who choose to stand alongside community initiatives like CERT-SA, that we are able to continue providing our services.

Mr. Shazim and the Lyttelton Motors team — thank you for keeping us on the road. Thank you for investing in our community. And thank you for being part of the CERT-SA family. 🇿🇦
