For World Cleanup Day and CleanupandRecycle week 2026, Hennops River Revival will be closing our doors.
Over the past years, more than 5 million kilograms of waste have been removed from the Hennops River — by hand, with love, and without sustainable support.
Crew, volunteers, families, businesses, and the City of Tshwane, schools, children, and community members stood shoulder‑to‑shoulder to restore a river that others had written off.
Sadly, we can no longer carry a municipal scale cleanup on our backs, while organisations earn the sustainability points and we absorb the strain, municipalities appear to be doing the work — and yet we are the ones who became depleted.
The public often saw the river being cleaned, but they did not see who carried the load behind the scenes.
The imbalance between public perception and private reality has become impossible to sustain.
If I helped your child with a school project, if you logged volunteer hours with us, or if we cleaned up a spot you drive past on your way to work — I have to ask for your help now:
To close the organisation cleanly and stop unnecessary charges from going off, we need to settle the remaining arrears so the account can be formally closed.

Cleanup and Recycle Week has always symbolised renewal. This year, it marks an ending — one shaped by love, exhaustion, and the reality of depletion that never matched the scale of the work.
Thank you to every volunteer, every supporter, every person who showed up.
And especially to Warren Rocchi for stepping up and filling the gaps, when your plate was already full 🙏
