𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗱. 𝗔 𝗹𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. 🐆

There is something about seeing a leopard in the wild that is difficult to put into words.

One moment, the bush seems completely still. The next, a flick of a tail, a flash of rosettes and suddenly one of Africa’s most elusive predators is right there in front of you.

Leopards are masters of camouflage. Their spotted coats help them disappear into grass, shadows and woodland, which is why even experienced safari-goers can drive past one without ever knowing it was there.

A few fascinating facts about these incredible cats:

• Leopards are solitary animals and usually spend most of their time alone.
• They are exceptionally strong and are famous for carrying prey into trees, helping protect their meal from lions and hyenas.
• Unlike lions, leopards are excellent climbers and surprisingly good swimmers.
• Their distinctive markings are called rosettes and each leopard has its own unique pattern.
• They are most active around dawn, dusk and during the night, although unforgettable daytime sightings certainly happen.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮? 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. ✈️

No need to Panic....

Although it has been announced that from 𝟭 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, travellers entering or leaving South Africa by air, land, sea or rail are required to complete an online SARS Traveller Declaration before travelling.

Here is why Panic is not needed:

This is a 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, not a new visa application or additional permission to travel. It helps travellers declare goods, currency and other relevant items they may be carrying, much like the declaration processes already used in many countries around the world.

Most importantly, SARS has confirmed that travellers will 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. Customs officials and self-service facilities will be available at ports of entry to assist anyone who was unable to submit it before travelling.

For a smoother airport or border experience, SARS recommends completing the declaration online no more than 𝟮𝟰 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. A separate declaration should also be completed for each traveller, including children.

So, while it is now an important part of your travel preparations, it is certainly not something that should cause unnecessary worry. South Africa remains open, welcoming and ready for your journey. 🌍

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗸𝗼𝗿𝗼?

A mokoro is more than a traditional canoe, it is a beautiful symbol of Botswana’s heritage and a timeless way of moving through the waterways of the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

For generations, local communities used the mokoro to travel, fish, carry goods and move gently through the Delta’s shallow channels. Traditionally carved from large tree trunks, today many mokoro are made from fibreglass to help protect Botswana’s precious trees and support conservation. Skilled polers stand at the back and guide the mokoro with a long pole, allowing guests to glide quietly through reeds, water lilies and mirror-like lagoons.
