Their conservation stories are very different. Black rhinos continue to show important recovery in parts of Africa, while greater one-horned rhinos represent one of conservationโ€™s strongest long-term recoveries. Yet Javan and Sumatran rhinos remain perilously close to extinction, and recent declines in white rhino numbers remind us that recovery can never be taken for granted.
