Today's features the Sanderling (Calidris alba). They are listed as Near Threatened in SA and are threatened by habitat loss, global warming and human disturbance.

Today's features the White-backed Vulture! This species is listed as Critically Endangered in South Africa with less than 6000 birds remaining. Their main threats are poisoning and collisions with powerlines, wind turbines and vehicles.

Today's is the Grey-headed Albatross. They are listed as Endangered in South Africa and are threatened by the longline fishing industry, plastic pollution, climate change and nest predation by invasive mice on their breeding islands

For today's we are featuring the Bateleur! These majestic raptors are unfortunately listed as Endangered in South Africa and are threatened by poisoning, habitat loss and human disturbance.

We are back for another ! Today we are featuring the Swamp Nightjar. They are regionally listed as Vulnerable with less than 1000 mature individuals estimated to occur in the subregion. Its threats are not well understood but is assumed to be mainly habitat loss due to agriculture, urban development, wetland drainage and afforestation.

Today's features the Hartlaub's Gull. This may come as a surprise to those who live within its range but these near endemic birds are actually regionally listed as Vulnerable. They are under threat from disturbance and loss of breeding habitat.

For today's we're talking about the Greater Flamingo! They are currently listed as Near Threatened in South Africa with between 8-35 000 individuals in the country. Their main threats are loss of their breeding grounds to pollution, human disturbance and climate change.

Welcome to another ! Today we are featuring the European Roller. This bird is a non-breeding migrant to South Africa from Eurasia and is currently listed as Near Threatened in South Africa. It is threatened by loss of breeding sites, decreased prey availability, poisoning, hunting, electrocution, roadkill and climate change.
