On Saturday we joined the City of Cape Town, and hundreds of ECD principals, teachers, government officials and ECD stakeholders, for the City’s third ECD Indaba.

"The event focused on helping ECD operators navigate the pathway to compliance through support, training, funding opportunities and guidance on safety, health, planning and environmental requirements. The City also highlighted ongoing support programmes, including roadshows, compliance drives and Development Cost Charge exemptions that have already helped several ECD centres across Cape Town move closer to compliance."

Today marked an exciting milestone as we officially launched Project RESET in Mfuleni in partnership with Starting Chance and the Western Cape Education Department (WCED).

Following the encouraging successes we have seen through Project RESET in Kraaifontein, we are excited to bring this collaborative approach to another community. The day started with our first community meeting, where ECD principals and stakeholders gathered to learn more about the process, followed by site visits to local ECD centres.

Project RESET is about more than compliance. It is about restoring hope, strengthening ECDs, building relationships, and ensuring that young children have access to quality early learning environments.

We are grateful for the partnership and shared commitment of Starting Chance, WCED, and all the ECD practitioners who have welcomed us into their centres. We look forward to seeing the impact this partnership will bring to the children, families, and communities of Mfuleni.

Together, we can create lasting change.

This weekend, a group of incredible women gathered for our Ubomi Women’s Retreat — a space to slow down, reconnect, breathe, reflect, laugh, cry, heal, and simply be. 🌿🤍

Our theme was:
“To be safe in our own bodies, so that we can become safe spaces for others.”

Together we explored:

✨ A – Awareness
✨ B – Breath
✨ C – Choice Connection
✨ D – Decision & Intention
✨ E – Energy

What a life-changing experience it was — reconnecting with self and with others. Women from different backgrounds came together and left as a community. 💛

Thank you to every woman who showed up with courage, vulnerability, honesty, and love. The healing in the room was something truly special.

Today we were privileged to host the Department of Social Development as they provided valuable training to all our ECD forums across the Kraaifontein, Eersterivier, and Kuils River areas.

The focus of the training was on strengthening and capacitating our forums around governance, compliance, and effective leadership within the ECD sector.

We truly value the collaboration and shared commitment towards building stronger, more compliant, and sustainable ECD communities for our children. 🌱📚

Today Victory Educare visited us to learn more about healthy eating and nutrition through fun, hands-on activities. 🍅🧀🥬

The children explored different ingredients, listened to stories about healthy foods, and ended the day by making their own pizzas together! 👩🏾‍🍳🍕

From fixing lights high above the hall, building shelves, sorting and archiving years of records, and organising educational materials… to supporting principals with registration processes and conducting aftercare site visits — the work never stops.

Behind every programme, workshop, training session and visit is a team quietly doing the practical work that keeps everything moving forward.

Some days look like meetings and reports. Other days look like screwdrivers, ladders, dusty storerooms and teamwork 😅

What a special day we shared today! We invited our aftercare parents to spend intentional, quality time with their children—and it truly turned into something beautiful.

Together, we explored the importance of nutrition, enjoyed fun and engaging activities, and ended the day on a high note by making pizza as a team 🍕

One of the most heartwarming highlights was seeing parents who brought extra toppings willingly sharing with others in their groups. That simple act of generosity created such a powerful sense of connection and community.

Today wasn’t just about activities—it was about bonding, learning, and building relationships that matter. Thank you to every parent and child who made this day so meaningful 🥰

Building Healthy Families Together 🌿

We had such a wonderful and productive morning with our Brainfood parents today 🌿

Together, we spent time talking about nutrition — why it matters, how it supports our children’s growth, and how small, healthy choices can make a big difference in everyday life.

One of the highlights of the morning was making pizza together 🍕 What a special moment it was to see parents and children working side by side, laughing, learning, and connecting. These simple shared experiences help build strong bonds and create lasting memories.
