This must be the best advert ever for Felecia Puintjie Blou, growing together and flowering together this season with hermannia saccifera. Puntjie Blou is such a winner, flowers throughout summer, full sun yet tolerant of shady areas and vigorous enough to fill empty spaces without becoming invasive.👏

Salvia runcinnata, soft sprays of pale blue flowers that stand up above the plant. Its pineapple-y scented leaves are deeply segmented and its soft, bright green foliage adds to its delicate appearance. It has a rambling growth habit, and tends to root itself as it grows between other plants. Good medium height gap filler.

Gazania krebsiana, the dark red form we sometimes see around the Robertson area of the Little Karoo. This species is a must for drier gardens and beds with less watering in the summer months. It enjoys a dormancy spell in the heat of summer and pops up in autumn again, starts to flower mid winter/spring.

Jordaaniella, a early flowering mesem. Flat growing with large flowers, not a common plant in cultivation, it often goes unnoticed and in mid winter with sunny days it will suddenly start flowering. Plant in drier beds and allow to meander between other growth and make it's pleasant appearance with it's showy golden flowers.

Snail season is starting, use a natural snail bait.Made with iron phosphate, it disturbs the snails metabolism as they assimilate iron differently to mammals and reptiles.
Snails love the taste, so use sparingly, nothing will go to waste. Store in water tight containers around garden, veggie area etc and have ready on hand when needed.
