Insurance denials, referrals, prior authorizations…navigating healthcare coverage can be frustrating and confusing.🤯

Self-advocacy means:
✔️Understanding your insurance benefits and coverage
✔️Asking questions when something doesn’t make sense
✔️Appealing denials or requesting clarification
✔️Speaking up about the care and support you need

You have the right to ask questions and keep asking until you get answers.

Learning how to navigate insurance and advocate for yourself can help you feel more informed, confident, and prepared throughout your healthcare journey.

Advocacy efforts like the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (ELSA) are also helping push for fairer insurance coverage for individuals with cleft and craniofacial conditions.

Self-advocacy can play an important role in building confidence and responding to bullying:
✔️ Setting boundaries
✔️ Speaking up when something isn’t right
✔️ Finding support systems that uplift you

You are more than how you look or what others say.
