Prune every sucker? Never prune? Leave two stems? Let them go feral?

Welcome to one of gardening’s favorite arguments. 🍅😂

My answer: neither side is completely right.

I prune early for airflow and disease control because Georgia heat and humidity can be brutal. But later in the season, I usually let them run wild.

Big tomatoes, more tomatoes, easier management, more shade…there are tradeoffs with all of it.

Gardening isn’t a test. It’s experimenting and finding what works in your garden.

Stop babysitting your tomatoes. 🍅

I know it’s tempting to stand over them, water them every day, fuss with every leaf, and check them 12 times a day… but sometimes less really is more.

Strong roots grow when plants have to work a little. Good soil, consistent care, and patience will usually beat over-managing every time.

If your garlic is sending up curly little shoots, don’t toss them…eat them. 🌱
These are garlic scapes, and they’re one of the best garden treats of the season. Mild garlic flavor, great grilled, sautéed, blended into pesto, or tossed into eggs and pasta.

And yes…elephant garlic sends them up too. 👏

Garden tip: cutting the scape helps the plant put more energy back into growing the bulb underground. Bigger bulbs, bonus harvest.

These strawberry beds are proof that gardening doesn’t always have to be complicated.

We planted these strawberries and onions back in the fall, top dressed with Soil³, kept the drip irrigation running, and let time do the rest.

Sometimes the best results come from good soil, consistent watering, and a little patience.

Bonus tip: these beds used to be tomato and pepper beds, so rotating crops gave the soil a much-needed break too.

If you feel behind in your garden this spring, don’t stress. Start where you are and keep growing. 🌱
