Zachary Food Pantry, Inc. The Zachary Food Pantry, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding households facing food insecurity in the Zachary Community School District.

Zachary Food Pantry began in July 1988 and was incorporated July 1, 2013. It is a 501 ( c ) 3 tax exempt organization under Section 170 of the IRS code. It is an equal opportunity provider. Our mailing address is P.O. 932, Zachary, LA 70791-0932.

To the Community of Zachary

At this time of year, we all sit and think of those things for which we are thankful. Just before Thanksgiving, we posted that our shelves were running low. And you, the community, responded. So here at the Zachary Food Pantry, we have lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. It is impossible to list all of them, but here are a few: our city leaders who provide support by taking care of our facilities, our schools that provided over 4,900 pounds of food through Pack the Pantry, our churches that provided food and funds to support our operations, the local businesses that hosted barrels and undertook drives to collect food, the many individuals and organizations that donated money to support our purchasing of protein and staple goods, those who donated turkeys and a Scout who conducted a Scouting for Food event in his neighborhood.
Through the support of our Zachary Community, in November, we served 1,143 people from 327 households. Over 50 percent of them were children or elderly. We distributed nearly 29,400 pounds of food including turkeys!

For me personally, I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a member of this pantry and especially for the many dedicated volunteers who support the work to fight food insecurity in our community, not just at Thanksgiving, but all year round.
