I shared my story with a group of young ladies on the campus of Southern University October 24, 2007. After sharing my story, I discovered that my story was no longer mine but to help someone else to survive. The Journey began..... Our Stories*Our Truth* Our Power

💜 Walk A Mile In Their Shoes 💜

Domestic violence is increasing right here in Baton Rouge, and it's a crisis that touches us all. Domestic violence doesn't have a look. It can be anyone: our neighbors, our coworkers, our family members. This is a community problem that demands a community response.

Join the Butterfly Society this Thursday as we gather in Community, Courage, and Connection to honor and remember each precious life lost in 2024 to domestic violence and uplift the survivors who continue to persevere with strength and hope. We refuse to let their stories be forgotten.

From Awareness to Advocacy: A Domestic Violence Forum
Presented by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Metropolitan Baton Rouge Chapter

Building on the impactful conversations from our 2024 Domestic Violence Convening, this year’s forum will once again shine a light on the realities survivors face—while advancing the dialogue toward meaningful solutions.

This event is designed to create a safe space for honest conversations, break the stigma surrounding domestic violence, and empower community members to stand as advocates for change.

Through a powerful panel discussion, we will explore the intersections of domestic violence and mental health, connect attendees with essential community resources, and discuss policy reform. The insights shared will help shape advocacy strategies that elevate survivors’ voices to decision-makers and lawmakers, ensuring their needs remain a priority.

“A Call to Men: POWER” brought together members of the Divine Nine Fraternities, the 100 Black Men, and our community for a courageous and necessary conversation about ending domestic violence.

Moderated by Eric P. Williams, the discussion reminded us that the fight against domestic violence takes all of us — and that men play a vital role in promoting healthier relationships, challenging harmful attitudes, and building safer communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this impactful conversation and to the men who continue to lead with purpose, courage, and connection. 💪🏽💜
