We march in remembrance. We march in honor. We march because every life matters.

Join The Butterfly Society for our Break the Silence March: “Our Voices” as we honor the lives lost to domestic violence in 2025, stand in solidarity with survivors, and raise awareness about the impact of domestic violence on our families and communities.

During this gathering, we will also observe a moment of silence to honor the children whose lives were lost in Shreveport this year. We hold their lives, their families, and all those impacted in our hearts as we come together in remembrance.

💜 Survivor Panel: “Speaking Our Truth”

The Butterfly Society is grateful for an impactful evening of honest conversation, shared experiences, and meaningful dialogue during our Survivor Panel, “Speaking Our Truth.”

Thank you to our incredible moderator and panelists for creating space for these important conversations, and to everyone who showed up, listened, and helped make this event meaningful.

The discussion explored several important aspects of domestic violence, including how abuse is portrayed and recognized on social media, the importance of reporting abuse, giving yourself grace and forgiving yourself throughout the healing journey, and how to offer meaningful support to someone experiencing domestic violence.

These conversations remind us that healing looks different for everyone, that support matters, and that no one should have to navigate domestic violence alone. By listening, learning, and creating safe spaces for honest dialogue, we can continue to raise awareness and strengthen our community's response to domestic violence.

Thank you to everyone who continues to help us uplift survivors and amplify their voices. Special thanks to Southern University Softball team for their support! 🦋

The Butterfly Society and the Butterfly Society’s Men’s Coalition had a meaningful conversation with the Southern University Basketball Team about domestic violence and the importance of engaging our young people in these discussions.

Conversations about domestic violence, healthy relationships, respect, and recognizing the signs of abuse are essential to building a culture where everyone feels safe and supported. By creating space for young people to learn, ask questions, and have honest conversations, we can help challenge harmful attitudes and encourage healthier relationships.

Thank you to the Southern University Basketball Team for welcoming us and being part of this important conversation. Investing in our young people today helps build safer, healthier communities for tomorrow.

💜 A Call to Men: Our Power

The Butterfly Society’s Men’s Coalition brought our community together for an important conversation about domestic violence in Baton Rouge and the vital role men play in prevention, awareness, and advocacy.

Thank you to our amazing panelists and sponsors for helping make this conversation possible. The discussion highlighted several important topics, including the prevalence of men who experience domestic violence and the importance of recognizing that abuse can affect anyone. Men must feel empowered to speak up, report abuse, and seek support when they are experiencing domestic violence themselves.

The conversation also addressed the reality of domestic violence among middle and high school students, reinforcing the importance of having honest conversations with young people about healthy relationships, recognizing warning signs, and knowing when and how to seek help.

These conversations matter. Ending domestic violence requires all of us, and engaging men and boys in this work is essential to building healthier relationships and safer communities.

We are grateful to everyone who showed up, shared their perspectives, and continues to be part of this work. Together, we can challenge harmful attitudes, encourage accountability, and create meaningful change.

The Butterfly Society’s Men’s Coalition invites you to join us tomorrow for A Call To Men "Our Power"

Domestic violence doesn’t have one face, one story, or one age range. Ending it requires all of us, and the men and boys in our community have an important role to play in promoting healthy relationships, challenging harmful attitudes, and creating safer communities.

So bring the men and boys in your life! Your nephews, uncles, brothers, cousins, sons, and friends. Whether they’re in middle school, high school, or well into adulthood, there is a place for them in this conversation.

Let’s come together to learn, listen, and be part of the solution. 💜

This October, The Butterfly Society proudly celebrates our 12th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a month of events centered around who we are and the power we hold together:

Throughout the month, we’ll gather for meaningful conversations, community events, and opportunities to show support for survivors, raise awareness, and stand together against domestic violence.

So much of the work we do happens privately and behind the scenes to protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of victims and survivors. Our October calendar is an opportunity for our community to learn more about the work we do, connect with us, and find ways to show their support.

From A Call to Men: Our Power and the Survivor Panel: Speaking Our Truth, to our Jazz Brunch: Our Stories, Purple Game, and Domestic Violence March: Our Voices — there are many ways to be part of this movement.

Because awareness is just the beginning. Our stories matter. Our voices matter. Our truth matters. And together, we have the power to create change. 🦋💜

Every October, we come together to honor survivors, remember those whose lives have been impacted or lost to domestic violence, and raise awareness about an issue that affects our entire community.

Domestic violence is not just a private issue — it’s a community issue. And creating safer communities takes all of us.

Throughout the month, The Butterfly Society will host a month-long calendar of activities and events creating opportunities to learn, support, advocate, connect, and stand with those impacted by domestic violence.
