Moody Garden Club

Moody Garden Club Our mission is to maintain the Garden for the enjoyment and education of the general public. The garden is open 24/7, 365 days a year and is free.

Welcome, The Robert J Moody Garden is cared for by The Moody Garden Club, Certified Master Gardeners and gardening enthusiasts. An entirely volunteer group founded in 2004, in partnership with the University of Arizona to tend to the demonstration garden, which shows what grows in Yuma, AZ. We meet every Tuesday morning from around 8am until 11am or whenever extra work is needed. We always welcome

new volunteers to the team. Whether your skills lie in plants/ shrubs, fundraising, marketing, and carpentry or DIY. We value your contribution to making the club and garden a success. We hold twice yearly plant and pot sales. These are our main fundraisers to pay for all that is needed in the garden, and our aim is to sell pots all year round should people require them. We rely entirely on generous donations, grants and the proceeds of the plant sales. Please message us if you would like to chat about volunteering in the club or come along on a Tuesday morning. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about visiting the garden, or your thinking maybe you would like to volunteer. We’d love to hear from you.

How Much You Plant Matters More Than You Think 🌱
Planting smarter doesn’t mean planting less — it means planting what you can actually manage and enjoy. Right-sized gardens reduce waste, stress, and burnout, while still giving steady harvests. A balanced plan often leads to happier plants and happier gardeners.

Science and plants are amazing!

Science and plants are amazing!

Dr. Sandra Pascoe Ortiz from Mexico created an innovative plastic made from cactus juice that biodegrades in just 7 days in water or soil—without harming the environment. It behaves like a fallen leaf, decomposing naturally.
Unlike petroleum-based plastics that can take 500+ years to decompose, this cactus bioplastic offers an eco-friendly solution for packaging, straws, and bags. It’s cheap, effective, and sourced from a drought-resistant plant.
A plant that’s helping heal the planet.

There were a few miscellaneous plants left after our sale. They are on the wooden stands next to the red barn in the Moody Demonstration Garden and are free to whoever wants them.
