Bridges to Community has over 30 years of experience leading international service trips for volunteers of all ages. Bridges forms long-lasting relationships with communities and ensure that the health, housing, education, and economic development projects that volunteers work on are based on the real needs, goals, and interest of the communities. On our week long service trips, volunteers stay in

the community, working alongside community members on meaningful projects. Each year, over 800 Bridges to Community volunteers provide housing, classrooms, libraries, health clinics, and latrines for thousands of Dominicans.

85% of our university scholarship recipients are women. In these communities, the norm has long been that men work the fields while women take care of the house and children. Over time, this becomes an unspoken law quietly closing the door on women's ability to build an independent life.
