🚨🚨Join us on Sunday, October 25th at The Fairways Dunwoodie for our 52nd Anniversary Dinncer Dance.

We invite you to celebrate our many distinguished honorees, among them IrishAmerica 250.

IrishAmerica250 is a national initiative dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the role Irish Americans have played in shaping the history, democracy, culture, and character of the United States over the past 250 years.

At its heart, IrishAmerica250 seeks to ensure that the Irish American contribution to the birth and development of the United States is fully recognized—from the Revolutionary era and the founding of the Republic to the contributions of generations of Irish Americans in labor, literature, law, business, religion, the military, sports, the arts, and public life.

IrishAmerica250 brings together Irish American history, culture, education, diplomacy, and civic engagement as part of the United States Semiquincentennial celebrations.

It’s program of events thorough out the U.S. and in Ireland work to strengthen the enduring bonds between Ireland and the United States, promote democratic values, foster transatlantic relationships, and encourage continued bipartisan support for the Good Friday Agreement and dialogue on the future of Northern Ireland.

IrishAmerica250 program also seeks to engage a new generation of Irish American leaders, supporting Irish Studies and cultural initiatives, and showcasing the extraordinary contributions of Irish music, film, literature, and heritage.

IrishAmerica250 is made possible through the voluntary contribution of time, expertise, and resources of its Directors, who serve to preserve and advance the Irish American story.

🚨Join us on Sunday, October 25th at The Fairways Dunwoodie for our 52nd Anniversary Dinner Dance.

We invite you to celebrate our many deserving honorees, among them Joe Cremin of Woodlawn.

A longtime volunteer with the Aisling Irish Community Center, Joe has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals through his work with Irish Volunteers for the Homeless and Young at Heart Seniors programs. His commitment to service also extends to Saint Barnabas Church in the Bronx, where he faithfully serves as an Usher, Eucharistic Minister, and Sexton.

Joe credits much of his charitable spirit to the example set by his Irish-born parents. His father, Pat, hailed from County Cork, and his mother, Maureen, a native of County Roscommon. Together they raised seven sons and three daughters in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, instilling the values of hard work, family, faith, and service to others.

Joe attended Sacred Heart School in the Bronx and Cardinal Hayes High School. After attending John Jay College, Joe spent 13 years working for the New York City Board of Education, in maintenance and later became a shop foreman at Skyline Windows.

His working career came to an abrupt end due to an automobile accident. After months of physical rehabilitation, Joe eventually came to the difficult realization that his working days were behind him. Faced with the question of what would come next, he found his answer in community and service to others.

Today, whether feeding the homeless, spending time with seniors, serving his parish, or simply lending a hand to a neighbor or local business, Joe continues to make himself useful wherever he is needed.

For a lifetime marked by hard work, faith, resilience, and an enduring willingness to help others, we are proud to recognize Joe Cremin as the recipient of the 2026 Community Service Award.

🚨Join us on Sunday, October 25th at The Fairways, for our 52nd Anniversary Dinner Dance.

We invite you to celebrate our many distinguished honorees, among them Rev. Monsignor Luke Sweeney, Spirit of Saint Patrick Awardee.

Monsignor Sweeney serves as Vice Rector and Dean of Seminarians at St. Joseph's Seminary, Dunwoodie. He previously served as Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Scarsdale, New York.

From 2015 to 2020, he was assigned to the Holy See as an official of the then-Congregation for Bishops, while also serving as an adjunct spiritual director at the Pontifical North American College in Rome.

Earlier, he was Vice Rector of Cathedral Seminary House of Formation in Queens, New York. Before that, he served as Vocations Director for the Archdiocese of New York, while also assigned as a formation advisor to the St. John Neumann Seminary College in Yonkers.

Monsignor Sweeney holds a licentiate in Sacred Theology from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and the Family at the Pontifical Lateran University, and was ordained a priest in 2001.

Monsignor Sweeney's family roots reflect the Irish immigrant experience on both sides. His maternal grandmother, a Burke, was born and raised in Kilkenny before marrying a Connors in New York, while his paternal grandparents, the Sweeneys and Kennys, came from Sligo and settled in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Monsignor Sweeney is well know him for his warm heart, his pastoral willingness to serve, and his love of his Irish heritage.

The American Irish Association of Westchester is proud to honor James Walsh as Irish Man of the Year at our 52nd Anniversary Dinner Dance on Sunday, October 25th.

James Walsh is a native Yonkers resident, the eldest of 4 children born to John J. and Carol (Patterson) Walsh. Jim’s paternal grandparents hail from Ballylanders, County Limerick and Mitchelstown, County Cork.

Jim and his wife, Nancy, live in the Crestwood section of Yonkers, where they are active parishioners of Annunciation Church. He’s the proud father of three children, Shannon (James), Kerri (Michael), John Walsh and two 2 grandsons James and Eamon who continue to inspire his greatest joy.

A graduate of Lincoln High School, Jim has dedicated more than 40 years to the energy industry, beginning with Brooklyn Union Gas and Retiring as Senior General Foreman with National Grid in 2022. Today, he continues to put his experience and leadership to work with Eversource Energy in Connecticut.

Since joining the Myles Scully Division 1 Ancient Order of Hibernians in 1998, Jim has been a steadfast leader and dedicated volunteer. He served as President for 6 years, as well as Vice President, Recording Secretary and a few other offices, helping strengthen the organization while fostering the spirit of brotherhood and service that defines the AOH. In addition to his involvement with the AOH, Jim is also a member of the Lakers Athletic & Social Club.

Jim’s commitment to Irish heritage and community service has extended to the Yonkers and New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parades, where he proudly served as an Aide to the Grand Marshal in 2000 and 2013, respectively. Jim was named Hibernian of the year in 2006, and continues to serve on the Formation committee for the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade, helping preserve traditions and heritage for future generations.

AIAW is proud to honor Nancy (Sullivan) Walsh as Irish Woman of the Year at our 52nd Anniversary Dinner Dance on Saturday, October 25th at The Fairways, Dunwoodie.

Nancy was born and raised in Carmel, New York, the youngest and only daughter of four children born to John L. & Lorraine Sullivan, both Yonkers natives. Proud of her Irish heritage, Nancy’s paternal roots trace to Counties Cork and Sligo.

In 1993, she married James Walsh, and together they made their home in the Crestwood section of Yonkers, where they remain active members of Annunciation Parish.

She and Jim are the devoted parents of Shannon (James), Kerri (Michael) and John, and adoring grandparents of James and Eamon who bring endless joy to their lives.

A graduate of Carmel High School, Berkeley Business School and Westchester Community College, Nancy has built a successful career in administration. She is a valued member of the Keller Company for the past 16 years, following earlier positions with Sullivan Insurance and Kraft General Foods.

Since joining the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Our Lady of Knock Division 19, in 2014, Nancy has distinguished herself through leadership and dedicated service. She served as Recording Secretary from 2016-2024, held the position of Vice President of Westchester County LAOH from 2024-2026 and currently serves as Westchester County President. Nancy is a passionate advocate for the organization’s mission, actively supporting its charitable work, fundraising efforts, and cherished St. Brigid’s celebrations.

In recognition of her commitment to the Irish Community, Nancy was honored as an Aide to the Grand Marshal of the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2022.

Beyond the LAOH, Nancy volunteers with Feeding Westchester and as a member of the Annunciation Ladies Guild. Her dedication to Irish culture, faith and charitable service reflects a life dedicated to uplifting others.
