Programs based on our 110-acre campus in Yonkers serves children with severe emotional and/or behavioral illness through the Residential Treatment Program and at our Blue Ribbon award-winning Orchard School, serving grades K to 9. In community-based initiatives across Yonkers, we partner with local agencies, government organizations and families to address the needs of children from birth through grade school. With locations in Yonkers, White Plains and Peekskilll- our Mental Health Clinics help to provide counseling to young children with mental health needs through individual, group and family therapy along with school-based programming.

We are thrilled to honor Susan Pace Guma with the Andrus Excellence in Leadership and Service Award at A Night to Imagine What’s Possible on October 1.

For nearly three decades, Susan served Andrus with extraordinary dedication, including as Chair of our Board of Directors. Her thoughtful leadership helped guide Andrus through important periods of growth and change, always with a deep commitment to our mission and to the children and families we serve.

As Andrus approaches its second century, it feels especially meaningful to recognize someone who has helped shape so much of the organization we are today.

We look forward to celebrating Susan, sharing the exciting future of One Health, and imagining what’s possible together.

☀️ Our Summer 2026 edition of We Are Andrus is here!
This summer has been filled with growth, connection, celebration, and possibility across Andrus.

Inside this issue, meet our new Orchard School Principal, Joseph Spatola, celebrate our 22 eighth grade graduates, explore our growing One Health approach to healing, and see how our students are building confidence and finding joy through summer recreation and creative expression.
You’ll also see the power of community in action, from dedicated volunteers and generous partners to recognition of Andrus on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and new investments that will help us continue creating opportunities for children and families.

A heartfelt thank you to the Aisling Irish Community Center and your incredible community for once again showing up for the children and families of Andrus! 💛

More than 300 school supply items were collected for students at our Orchard School, including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, folders, pens, erasers, sharpeners, and so much more.

Each year, we welcome our students back with a Back-to-School Parade, helping build excitement for the year ahead and reminding every child that they are supported and celebrated. Thanks to the generosity of the Aisling Irish Community Center , our students can return to school knowing they have the supplies they need to begin the year with confidence.

That support is incredibly valuable. It takes pressure off our school, our families, and our students, allowing everyone to focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and starting the year strong.
Aisling Irish Community Center, you come through for our students and families time and time again, and we truly cannot thank you enough. What a generous and caring community you have created.

🌻 A fruitful summer in every sense.

As our summer session comes to a close, we’re celebrating the many ways our children have grown, explored and connected with the world around them.

From discovering life around the pond and spending time with our four-legged friends to tending vegetables, herbs and flowers on the farm, summer at Andrus has been filled with opportunities to learn, wonder and simply enjoy being outside.

We wish our families and staff a restful, healthy and joyful break. May everyone return refreshed and ready for all that the new school year will bring.

Thank you to U.S. Representative George Latimer for convening today’s important roundtable discussion with New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, New York State Senator , New York State Assembly member MaryJane Shimsky, Westchester County Legislator Nancy Barr, and Westchester County Legislator and Majority Whip Shanae Williams, MBA William to discuss the implications of H.R. 1 and what this new legislation could mean for the people and families we serve.

We appreciate his leadership in bringing organizations together to better understand the potential impact on programs such as and , and to begin thinking collectively about how we can respond.

What stood out most to me was the strong spirit of collaboration in the room. When nonprofit organizations, government, and community partners come together to share perspectives and focus on solutions, we are better equipped to support those who rely on these essential services.

Thank you, Congressman George Latimer, for creating the space for this important conversation and for recognizing the value of working together on behalf of our communities.
