Leadership isn’t built by avoiding hard conversations—it’s built by having them.

This week, our New Rochelle youth participated in an engaging leadership development workshop led by Gomez, exploring peer pressure, negative influences, decision-making, and rational thinking.

Through experiential activities, scenario-based role-playing, and real-world discussions, participants were challenged to think critically about the realities they face and the choices they’ll make as they transition into adulthood.

Creating space for young people to reflect, question, and grow is how leaders are built.

Leadership isn’t something we wait to grow into. It’s something we practice.

This week marked the third launch of Voices to Be Heard, our Civic Advocacy Program, where young people learn how to turn their lived experiences into leadership, advocate for themselves, and influence the policies that shape their lives.

What makes this cohort even more special is that it’s led by Jordan Mendez, a 17-year-old community advocate committed to creating systemic change.

At 914United, Leaders Building Leaders isn’t a slogan—it’s how we move. We intentionally invest in young leaders, empower them to lead, and trust them to help educate, inspire, and mobilize the next generation.
