914United 914UNITED Inc. presents two initiatives in 2021 including the Youth Leadership Development Initiative and Returning Citizens Initiative.

914United aims to uplift the youth and the justice-involved by exposing them to community resources, educating them through skills-development programming, and empowering them with 1:1 case management and mentorship services. The Youth Leadership Initiative includes workshops regarding manhood training, financial literacy, & civic empowerment. Our Returning Citizens Initiative will assist those wh

o were formerly incarcerated by providing them with clothing, food, funds to start over and multiple workshops that educate on re-entering society.

This week, our Leadership Development Program explored the power of consequential thinking through the lens of the 914United Formula:

Exposure → Information → Thinking → Actions → Outcomes

Participants reflected on how the people they surround themselves with, the information they consume, and the thoughts they entertain ultimately influence the decisions they make and the outcomes they experience.
—
The lesson was simple but powerful: if we want different outcomes, we may need different exposure.
—
Through discussion, reflection, and real-life scenarios, young people were challenged to think critically about the choices they make every day and how those choices shape their future.
—
We closed the session with push-ups—not as a fitness challenge, but as a reminder that growth, discipline, and success are built one choice, one action, and one repetition at a time.

Leadership starts with the decisions we make when no one is watching.

This week, we launched our Leadership Development Program at RHS with a one-hour session focused on a simple but powerful idea: before we can lead others, we must first learn to lead ourselves.

Through reflection, discussion, and personal exploration, participants examined their values, choices, strengths, and the type of leader they aspire to become.

Leadership is not about being in charge—it’s about taking responsibility for who we are and who we are becoming.

This was just the beginning, and we’re excited to continue investing in the next generation of leaders.

We are honored to launch our 6-week Leadership Development program through our partnership with My Brother’s Keeper and the Yonkers Public Schools, working alongside three identified schools: Roosevelt High School, Gorton High School, and Barack Obama School for Social Justice.

This program is rooted in lived experience, professional expertise, and formal education — creating spaces where young people can see their value, recognize their potential, and develop the leadership skills needed to navigate their future with purpose.

Our youth are often called “the future,” but it is our moral responsibility to invest in them today if we truly want a better tomorrow.

While our core services remain rooted in case management, peer mentorship, and leadership development, we also believe in creating meaningful engagement pathways that keep our young people connected, growing, and inspired beyond traditional programming.
