We’re proud to partner with Antioch College’s Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom on a powerful evening honoring Juneteenth and Pride. 🏳️‍⚧️

Chosen: A Documentary Film Screening & Talk Back is a fundraiser celebrating Black Trans community, joy and gathering. The film — Chosen: A Love Letter to Black Trans Community — documents the Black Trans Family Reunion in New Orleans, a space for reimagining wellness, joy and belonging.

Following the screening, stay for a talk back featuring:

• Ace Xavier Portis — architect of the Black Trans Family Reunion, the film’s producer and Governance Chair of the Antioch College Board of Trustees
• Lee Wade — local Black Trans activist, cultural worker, Kettering Foundation Democracy Fellow and 2025 Antioch College graduate
• Miles Taylor — local Black Trans activist, Antioch College student and co-op student worker at the Coretta Scott King Center

Reminder: Pride 🏳️‍🌈 Volunteer Social and Info Session at the Coretta Scott King Center at Antioch College, 6–7:30 PM tonight (Thu, June 18).

Check your email for details.

If you didn't sign up but still want to volunteer, please email [email protected] with your name, shift preference and T-shirt size. We will do our best to accommodate.

Shifts:
• 9 AM–12 PM (FULL)
• 12–3 PM (2 SLOTS OPEN)
• 3–6 PM (5 SLOTS OPEN)
• 4–7 PM (1 SLOT OPEN)

Roles:
• Volunteer check-in & coordinator support
• Setup & festival decoration
• Vendor setup & teardown support
• Pride Merch/Tent runner
• Parking attendant
• Parade staging and runner
• Event assistant/roamer (greet guests, fill in where needed)
• Trash & litter pickup
• Festival cleanup

There's a role for everyone — whether you want to welcome guests, cheer on the parade or help us close out the day. Every hand helps.

Thank you to the Ohio Innocence Project-u (OIP-u), the Coretta Scott King Center and Antioch College for inviting us to collaborate on a film screening of “Southwest of Salem: The Story of the San Antonio Four.” It was an honor to welcome Anna Vasquez, one of the four who serves as Director of Outreach and Education with the Innocence Project of Texas, to Yellow Springs.

The movie follows four Latina le****ns — Elizabeth Ramirez, Cassandra Rivera, Kristie Mayhugh, and Anna Vasquez — as they fight against mythology, homophobia, and prosecutorial fervor after being wrongfully convicted of ra**ng two young girls during the Satanic Panic witch hunt of the ‘80s and ‘90s. This now-classic gay rights True Crime tale helped exonerate the San Antonio Four.

The San Antonio Four spent years fighting for their freedom, dignity and truth. Their story is not long-ago history; it is a reminder of what is still at stake for LGBTQ+ people, for people of color, and for anyone whose identity makes them a target in systems built to work against them.

Some stories demand to be witnessed — and this is one of them.

Join us for a free community screening of "Southwest of Salem," the Peabody Award-winning documentary that follows four Latina le****ns — Anna Vasquez, Kristie Mayhugh, Cassandra Rivera and Elizabeth Ramirez — who spent years fighting to reclaim their lives after being wrongfully convicted during the Satanic Panic witch hunt of the '80s and '90s. Their story is one of resilience in the face of homophobia, racism and a broken system — and ultimately, of justice won.

This powerful afternoon is hosted by OIP-u (the Ohio Innocence Project's collegiate innocence advocate network), the Coretta Scott King Center at Antioch College and Yellow Springs Pride.
