It is the first day of Cub Adventure Camp, and our Bears and Wolves are having a great time testing out different aspects of weather.

Creating kites to catch the wind, creating structures to protect their wooden peg person from a tsunami, preparing fruit to dry for trail mix, and fun free time around camp!

The fun is just starting! On to day 2!

Ready, Set, GO! Our Tiger Cub Scouts rolled into camp this morning on the tails of some crazy weather to kick off our Weather Warriors Summer Camp Adventures.

These Scouts got to experience winds, rain, thunder, and a beautiful sunny day for all of their activities.

Kites to explore the effects and physics of wind, and pedal cars to challenge their weather-chasing skills. First Aid kits, snacks, and SO much MORE!

Pack 103 found a painted turtle. I did not see it. If you do, be sure to take a picture and find the QR code at Bear Creek or the Trading Post to share it, and I will post it here!

A big thank you to everyone who helped with the painting of the Camp Akela pool. This project came together because of an incredible team effort.

Special thanks to Jontz Painting and Jeremy Jontz and crew for their expert application advice, loaning professional tools, and donating two full work days.
We also appreciate the hard work from Toby Larsen, Jason, Eric Henely, Erich Hites, Matt McPhail, Levi Larsen, Isaac Hites, and Sawyer Williams for helping with surface prep, painting, and caulking.

Thank you to Holland Painting and Randy Holland for ordering specialty catalyzed paint at a discount through Spectrum Paints in Ames, and to Logan Contractor’s Supply for providing pool caulking at a discounted rate.

Curly and the raccoon are still exploring every corner of camp, and their latest adventure led them to Camp Akela! 🚵‍♂️🦝

They stopped to check out the exciting improvements waiting for our Cub Scouts this summer at the pool. The Akela pool was in need of a facelift, and a whole team of businesses and volunteers came together to make this improvement happen this summer for our Cub Scouts!

Take E57 through Luther and continue west to Magnolia Rd, then south to 274th Lane to reach camp.
Signage may be limited, so we strongly encourage you to map your route in advance.

Whether you can lend a hand for an hour, part of the day, or the entire day, we have projects for everyone. Every task completed helps create an unforgettable experience for the Scouts who will be arriving soon.

Join us as we put the finishing touches on camp, then stick around for dinner, awards, and a special celebration as we officially kick off the 2026 Summer Camp season!
