This unique showplace contains over 5,000 accessioned woody and herbaceous plants. It is one of the largest and most diverse displays of plants that can be successfully grown in Iowa. In addition, the Arboretum manages a 300-acre native woodland featuring century old oaks and a 4 acre prairie.

It's a beautiful day to play OUTSIDE! Our prairie trails are blooming with wildflowers, garden trails are teeming with perennials, all areas are bursting with pollinators, and the Treehouse Village Playground is squealing with voices of delight (both young & old). And don't forget the Children's Garden, Schoolhouse Little Library, and Hammock Hangout for a little rest from all this adventure! Weekend Hours are 10am-4pm. Members can explore trails, plan a pond-side picnic, hangout in hammocks, build nature forts, walk the family dog, peruse blooming gardens and more for a full year from the date of their membership purchase. Fawns, or baby deer, are all around during the late spring and early summer. This one was discovered in the woodland area around Treehouse Village. Likely, this curious little guy was told by it's white-tailed deer mom to be still and stay put. But like all young animals, he (or she) was curious! If you ever discover a hunkered down little fawn, it is best to leave it be. The mom is likely nearby waiting for you to move on so she can scurry the baby along to safer ground. We love our woodland friends!

We are excited to announce that our annual Trial Program Field Day will be on Saturday, August 8! Join us for a full day about plants, rain or shine! The Trial Garden will be open from 10 am to 4 pm, with special programs throughout the day. Pre-registration is required; please RSVP by August 1, 2026. Visit our events page for more information.

Erin Luense is an Iowa native and experienced yoga teacher whose practice is rooted in presence, compassion, and mindful connection. With over seven years of dedicated study, and additional training in Trauma-Informed Yoga, her teaching style is thoughtful, grounding, and responsive—meeting each individual where they are physically, mentally, and emotionally. Erin’s classes invite students to connect with the wisdom of the body, the rhythm of the breath, and the healing power of the present moment.
