Over the last couple of days, our Culinary Director, Statia Sinclair, has been spending time in Minnesota with the Cassia team, learning new things, sharing ideas, and expanding her expertise!

We are so thankful for our partnership with Cassia and the opportunities it provides for our leaders to continue learning and growing! 💙

Thank you, Statia, for taking time away to invest in your professional growth and bring back new knowledge and skills that will benefit our residents and employees!

Annie, our wonderful Health Unit Coordinator, is such a staple at Westhaven Community, and it’s easy to see why she continues to be recognized!

She’s a breath of fresh air, a friendly smile in the hallway, and a tender heart for our residents. Annie brings kindness, compassion, and dedication to everything she does, making a difference in the lives of our residents and staff every day. ❤️

🌟 Celebrating UNITY at Westhaven! 🌟

Today, we proudly presented Unity pins to:

💙 Michelle Reiff, Director of Nursing
💙 Vanessa Wood, Nurse Manager
💙 Tami Swearingen, Infection Preventionist
💙 Carolyn Moreland, MDS Coordinator
💙 Annie Musser, Health Unit Coordinator
💙 Breanna Streeter, Health Information Director

These women came together to help Westhaven move from paper records to our electronic medical record system. They prepared records, entered orders, scanned supporting documents, stayed late, and provided extra support on our care units—all while sharing laughter and working through challenges together.

We still have work ahead, but a big part of this transition is under our belt because of their dedication and teamwork!

Their efforts were for their coworkers and the residents who call Westhaven home. Please join us in thanking this giving group of women for showing what UNITY looks like in action! 👏

💙 Learning, Growing, and Making a Difference! 💙

Today, our very own Danyel Harris, Social Services Director at Westhaven Community, attended the Long Term Care Social Workers of Iowa Fall Conference in Ames!

Throughout the day, Danyel had the opportunity to learn more about Parkinson's disease, dementia, brain injuries, supporting families through difficult decisions, and the importance of creativity and connection in long-term care.

At Westhaven, we know that great care starts with people who genuinely care. ❤️ Continuing education is about more than gaining knowledge. It's about bringing new ideas, understanding, and compassion back to the residents and families we serve.

Thank you, Danyel, for taking the time to learn, grow, and continue making Westhaven a better place for those who call it home! We appreciate you and the heart you bring to your work every day!

Breanna Streeter was awarded the **Cassia Pin of Excellence** today, and she is truly deserving of this recognition.

Breanna has worn many hats at Westhaven, and if you’ve had the opportunity to work with her, you know that her heart and soul go into caring for our residents. She puts them first, sees the good in everyone, helps others reach goals they never thought possible, and leads with compassion, love, and without judgment.

Breanna is an amazing coworker and leader. As Westhaven’s newly appointed Health Information Director, she has spearheaded a major project that will soon move us to a digital system.

Thank you, Breanna, for believing in Westhaven, supporting our residents and team, and helping lead us into the future. You are truly deserving of the Cassia Pin of Excellence!

🌟 Celebrating Annie Musser! 🌟

Annie has been nominated for the Cassia Collaboration Pin, and it’s easy to see why!

For 23 years and 23 days, Annie has cared for residents and supported her coworkers throughout Westhaven. She was recently promoted to Health Unit Coordinator, where she is thriving!

Even with her new office role, Annie is always willing to roll up her sleeves and help on the floor when our CNA team needs extra support. She shows us that collaboration means stepping in and caring for one another.

Her smiling face, steady friendship, and dedication make Westhaven a better place for residents and staff alike.
