Today, the Anna Crawford Children’s Center team is wearing purple to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to celebrate the life and legacy of Meg Rogers, an amazing woman, wife and mother, and an absolute fierce advocate, leader, and champion for survivors and children.
Meg dedicated more than 30 years of her life to the Cherokee Family Violence Center, serving as its Executive Director and helping transform the organization and the community’s response to domestic violence. Her leadership helped expand safe housing and daycare, strengthen programs and technology, establish a statewide Spanish-language domestic violence crisis hotline, advance laws to protect survivors, and bring greater awareness to the impact of domestic violence on families and communities.
Meg once described her work as having “the privilege of watching people walk through some of the worst moments of their lives and then watching them find their way to something better.” What a beautiful reflection of Meg's heart and love for others.
She was deeply proud of the staff, advocates, leaders, and community members who devoted themselves to helping women, children, and families. She believed in creating a place where survivors could find hope, safety, and empowerment, and where advocates understood that their work truly makes a difference.
That legacy is especially meaningful to us at the Anna Crawford Children’s Center because we know that domestic violence affects children, too. A child does not have to be the direct target of violence to be deeply impacted by it. Children who witness violence in their homes may carry fear, confusion, trauma, and uncertainty long after the violence has stopped.
Meg understood the importance of seeing the whole family and recognizing that domestic violence is a concern for all of us. Her work reminds us that creating safer communities requires all of us to stand together. Meg and the Cherokee Family Violence Center have been amazing partners to the Anna Crawford Children's Center and other youth serving agencies in our community who work to protect and support children. We are forever grateful to have had Meg blazing trails in Cherokee County, in Georgia and across the country.
💜 Today, we wear purple to honor Meg Rogers and the extraordinary legacy she leaves in our community and beyond.
💜 We wear purple for survivors.
💜 We wear purple for the children who have witnessed violence.
💜 We wear purple for the advocates who walk alongside families during their darkest moments.
💜 We wear purple to carry forward Meg's belief in hope, safety, empowerment, courage, and dignity.
Meg’s work changed lives. Her legacy challenges all of us to keep building communities where children and families can find their way through difficult moments and toward something better.
We are honored to celebrate the life and legacy of Meg. We are grateful for her life of service. And we will continue the work. 💜
