Behind every Veterinary Care Voucher is a veterinary team willing to say, “We’ll help.”

We’re kicking off our Veterinary Partner Spotlight with Gateway Animal Clinic! Dozens of One Health Family Members have used their vouchers at Gateway to help their dogs and cats receive veterinary care.

Gateway is one of the local clinics that partners with One Health Organization by accepting our Voucher Cards as payment.

Dr. Anna stopped by for a visit with veterinary staff and one of our OHFMs, whose dog Chico, has received voucher assistance over the years.

Our Veterinary Partners are truly at the heart of what we do. Their hard work and compassion make it possible for our families to turn a voucher into something much more meaningful: care for a beloved pet.

We are so grateful to Gateway and to all of the veterinary professionals who help us keep pets healthy and at home with the people who love them.

A shelter visit, a cat café, and a chance encounter outside work brought three very special cats into One Health Organization Board Secretary Taylor Daniels’ family. For this Board Member Pet Spotlight, meet her boys: Bridgers, Socrates, and Hank!

Bridgers is the tabby who started it all. When Taylor adopted him, she was dating her now-husband, Sam—and Bridgers was also named Sam at the shelter! These days, he’s both their moodiest cat and their cuddliest. Apparently, affection happens on his schedule.

Socrates is the black cat Taylor adopted from a cat café. As she puts it, “I went thinking I could leave without a cat, how foolish.” Now he’s her little bestie: always following her around and always ready for a conversation.

Hank is the orange-and-white youngster Sam found outside his workplace one morning. He was near a propane tank, so they named him Hank Hill. He came home covered in fleas—not the most glamorous introduction—but this rambunctious, loving boy became part of the family.

Taylor says all three are her and Sam’s greatest joy. Sometimes the best part of a pet’s story is simply that they found their people.

How did your pet find their way into your family?

Blue doesn’t need a big adventure to enjoy his day. His favorite chair will do just fine.

For this Board Member Pet Spotlight, meet the much-loved dog of One Health Organization Board Treasurer Nate Creviston.
Blue had some difficult health challenges early in life, including surgeries and allergies. Through it all, he remained calm and sweet—and became an irreplaceable part of Nate’s family.

“We love him more than we ever thought we could,” Nate says.

While other dogs might come running at the mention of a walk, Blue is perfectly content lounging. Nate says they wouldn’t want it any other way: he’s the best lounging companion they could ask for.

There’s something special about a pet who reminds you that simply being together is enough.

Does your pet have a favorite chair—or have they claimed the whole couch?

Something BIG is coming back. Our Challenge Grant returns on October 1, giving our community another opportunity to multiply its impact for pets and the people who love them. Stay tuned.

We’re continuing our Board Member Pet Spotlight with Lindsey Talkington’s dogs—and this time, you get to meet FOUR!

Stella is a black-and-white Pomeranian who likes to know exactly where Lindsey is at all times. Being held like a baby is even better. Why watch from across the room when you could be carried?

Jameson, the big guy, loves digging holes in the yard. Lindsey occasionally discovers them the hard way after dark. His landscaping services have received mixed reviews.

Mimosa is a merle Frenchie who doesn’t bark. Before you picture a quiet household, though, Lindsey says the snoring and snorting are extremely loud.

And Frangelico, the fawn Frenchie, loves her ball and walks. She also makes sure the other dogs know when they’ve stepped out of line. Every household needs a rule enforcer!

Does your pet’s name have a fun story behind it? We’d love to hear it!

We’ve been asking our board members to introduce us to their pets, and these introductions are too good to keep to ourselves!

First up in our Board Member Pet Spotlight: Midnight, the beloved dog of One Health Organization Board Chair Jennifer Lynch McKinney.

Jennifer says Midnight is an amazing cuddler and a great listener. “He always makes me feel better when I am feeling sad or down.”

He’s also fully aware that he’s spoiled and runs the house. With those qualifications, who could blame him?

Here’s to the pets who lift our spirits and make a house feel like home.

What does your pet do that always makes you feel better?

Grilling this Labor Day weekend? If your dog will be nearby, it’s worth paying attention to what ends up within reach.

A few things to keep away from them:
🌽 Corn cobs, which can cause a blockage if swallowed
🧅 Onions and garlic
🍇 Grapes and raisins, which are toxic to dogs
🍢 Skewers and leftover bones, which can cause injuries or blockages

Some people foods can be shared with dogs in moderation, but others can cause real problems.

Not sure what’s okay to share? Dr. Anna breaks it down here: https://hubs.ly/Q04vWg9p0
