Radisphere

Radisphere Radisphere is a standards-based national radiology group. Visit http://www.radisphereradiology.com or call 866-437-7237 for more information.

Our foundational belief has always been that radiology must be accountable to defined standards that improve patient outcomes and lower the cost of care by eliminating errors, variation and waste across the health system. Over the past 12 years, we built a set of software enabled services to help our practice achieve high compliance against standards and deliver care to geographically distributed

regions. We are now launching a new software company to deliver these technology solutions to health systems and their existing radiologists to enable them to identify and eliminate clinical variation in radiology while managing the shift towards value-based care.

The Emergency Department is a Big Contributor to Overutilization: CT Ordering Rates Vary by More Than 100%
As the second in a series of graphical stories that highlight imaging’s role in overutilization, our latest infographic focuses on the impact of variation in CT utilization across emergency medicine clinicians.
The graphic illustrates more than 100 percent variation in CT utilization in 58 hospital emergency departments (EDs) across the United States over the last two years. CTs accounted for 19 percent - 40 percent of all imaging ordered at the facilities we observed, with a median of 28.5 percent. Our analysis indicates that clinician behavior is a significant contributor to this variation. A view into one hospital’s ED shows the highest physician utilizers order CTs at four times the rate of the lowest utilizers.
