Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers and 13% of children each year. People struggling with their mental health may be in your family, live next door, work in the next cubicle or sit next to you at an event. In a mental health crisis situations, sometimes, we become the first responders. Most often the family, friends, people who work with this population or, many times, the general public encounters a situation before a Public Safety Personnel.
How do we get the training and skills necessary to adequately begin to help in those situations?
Please consider joining the Center for Cognition & Recovery for a 2-hour symposium focusing on basics of how the brain works, looking at the physiology of a crisis, and safe and effective responses to persons in crisis. This is a great general course for anyone!
