A new cohort is underway in JFSA’s Cognitive Enhancement Therapy (CET) program! CET helps adults living with mental illness strengthen memory, attention, problem-solving and social skills. Through computer exercises and supportive group sessions, participants practice communicating, understanding social cues and connecting with others—building skills and confidence for everyday life.

Our older adults had an amazing experience traveling back in time while visiting JFSA's History Exhibit housed within our Chagrin Boulevard headquarters. Created to commemorate JFSA’s 150th anniversary, the exhibit traces JFSA's history since 1875 and celebrates the staff, donors, clients and community members who have shaped our remarkable journey.

At a special Rosh Hashanah program, JFSA older adults explored the holiday through one of its most familiar symbols: apples.

A presentation from Patterson Fruit Farm sparked a conversation about different apple varieties, how they are grown and the seven generations of the Patterson family who have sustained the farm. Participants also heard the shofar, sang Jewish songs and learned about Rosh Hashanah customs and traditions.

For older adults with limited access to Jewish life, experiences like these offer a meaningful way to celebrate the holidays and strengthen their connection to their Jewish heritage.

Mitzvah Day brought our community together to brighten the New Year for 150 JFSA older adult clients.

Twenty-eight volunteers delivered Rosh Hashanah gift bags filled with holiday foods, flowers and thoughtful items. Horvitz YouthAbility ambassadors created greeting cards and picked and packaged apples from Eddy’s Fruit Farm.

The most meaningful gifts were the personal connections—a client sharing an original song about JFSA, flowers recalling a beloved garden and a recipient moved to tears by the kindness at her door.

Thanks to 70 generous donors, Mitzvah Day raised $13,824 and reached more clients than ever before.

Thank you for reminding our older adults that they are valued, remembered and never alone.

Michael Wortzman z"l found friendship, compassionate care and a true sense of home at JFSA’s residential program in Chesterland. Now, a memorial bench and accessible picnic tables honor his joyful spirit in the outdoor setting he loved. This heartfelt tribute will give residents a welcoming place to relax, connect and build friendships for years to come.
