JFSA recently commemorated Holocaust Survivor Day during a Summer Carnival held at Suburban Temple Kol Ami. The event celebrated the extraordinary lives, resilience, and lasting legacy of Holocaust survivors. Survivors, along with their families, volunteers, JFSA staff, and community members, united for an afternoon filled with joy and connection. Attendees enjoyed carnival games, caricature artists, ice cream from East Coast Custard and a special appearance by Flower Clown and the Rocket Ship car.

This event was co-sponsored by JFSA, Seed the Dream Foundation, Jewish Federation of Cleveland, Claims Conference, and Kavod Shef.

JFSA is enhancing support for individuals with developmental disabilities through its newly launched IDD Family Forum series designed to strengthen connection, support, and education for families and guardians of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The inaugural forum in April included a presentation by Don Malitz (shown here) on “Disability,” led by Mia Buchwald Gelles. In May, Veronica Bellay facilitated a discussion on preparing for Individual Service Plan meetings and Ohio’s new InterRAI assessment. These quarterly forums provide guidance on financial planning, long-term care, and navigating Ohio’s assessment and funding systems.

Music, art, and community came together at JFSA’s Kindness Center in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Hosted by JFSA's PLAN of Northeast Ohio, the special event featured original piano compositions by PLAN member Sam Silverman (featured here) alongside artwork created by PLAN artists — highlighting the power of creativity to support wellness, connection, and self-expression.
