🏈"Ross Fichthorn, Winthrop senior running back/linebacker: Fichthorn is one of the area’s best players on both sides of the ball. He rushed for 1,071 yards and 14 touchdowns, and recorded 110 tackles and two interceptions last year."

🏈"Carter Rand, Winthrop junior running back/defensive back: The other piece of the Ramblers’ two-headed rushing attack, Rand went for 866 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He also notched 57 tackles and forced three fumbles."

#1. Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale: The Ramblers won their first title since 2000 and seventh overall, and are primed to make another run in Class D. Winthrop lost starting quarterback Jacob Feith (now at Husson), but an offensive reset is not needed. Senior running backs Ross Fichthorn and Carter Rand, who combined for over 20 touchdowns and almost 2,000 yards last season, will lead the offense. The Ramblers graduated their three leading receivers in Ben Porter and Brody Adams, but will lean on senior Lucas Rice, who recorded 10 receptions for 168 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. On the defensive front, Winthrop is led Tristyan Ortiz, who heads into his junior season with 39 tackles (eight for loss), two sacks and a forced fumble.

Of the five teams below, three played in a state title game in 2025.
