Free Sensory Friendly Event - Tonight at 5 PM 🫶🏼

Due to our annual Touch A Truck event taking place next Friday May 22nd (when Sensory Night would be), we are holding our Sensory Friendly Play Time this Friday, May 15 from 5-6:30 p.m.

Our Sensory Friendly play time for children on the autism spectrum or with other sensory sensitivities and their families to connect and explore in a calm and quieter space.
All regular exhibits will be open. We will have sensory bins, communication boards, and a low light calming space.

Sensory Friendly Play Time is a FREE program made possible by Variety - The Children's Charity of Iowa. Variety - the Children’s Charity is dedicated to improving the lives of children who are at-risk, underprivileged, critically ill, or living with special needs throughout Iowa. Funding is provided to programs and initiatives that directly impact the well-being of children throughout Iowa. We’re excited to announce that our Autism Resource Fair is happening July 11, 2026! 🎉

This year’s guest speaker is one of our favorite advocates, Britini D'Angelo!

Britini is an Autistic Advocate, Special Education Teacher, and contestant on CBS’s Big Brother. Britini is a powerful voice for autism acceptance and inclusion, and we’re thrilled to have her join us!

Join ChildServe, the Autism Society of Iowa, and the Iowa Cubs on Sunday, June 7, for the third-annual Sensory-Friendly Game at the Ball Park! ⚾

The 2026 Sensory-Friendly Game will provide an environment designed for individuals with autism or sensory processing disorders in mind, so families can visit, play and enjoy the game. Special programming and activities are planned with modifications, including the mitigation of sounds and motions as much as possible, designated educational areas, calming rooms, directional signage and trained volunteers throughout the stadium.
