We get so many messages asking us to take cats or kittens. Most of the time we let them know we can't and try to provide some resources for them to follow up on for help. We have been asked "why do you get donations then?" Well..

In addition to the community cats we take care of, we also have rescue cats at home. We take in ones that can no longer live in their colonies. We bring home the handicapped, the sick or the ones that have aged to the point where they need care until they cross the bridge..

These are a few at the Misfit Ranch...

*Mike - blind because both eyes ruptured and had to be removed

*Snake - trauma to his face leaving one eye gone and jaw shifted over. Renal failure

*Abby - back legs chewed off when she was a kitten (she was an owner surrender)

*Figo - rear leg partially ripped off at 5 weeks old

*Tunie - cerebellar hypoplasia and someone or something cut the tops of her ears off

*Jeff - worst environmental allergies his dermatologist has ever seen. Had to have teeth removed

*Panjo - hit by a car and drug down the street. Paralyzed in his back end

*Katie - front leg amputated after getting caught in fence line

*Ridge - blind in both eyes from eyes ruptured

*Walter - blind. Dumped at animal control when his owner died. AC reached out and we took him.

*Crawford - terminal mammary cancer

*Nellie Belle - genetic disorder so she doesn't grow hair

And the list goes on....

This is why we can't take your cat or kittens. We take the wonky ones that need a place to go. This is why we ask for donations. Ongoing medical needs. Food to feed them. Flea meds. Litter. Puppy pads.

We do have some really great adult cats that would love a family of their own. But, the Misfit Ranch will be their safe haven until their family comes or until they cross the bridge.

Thank you to all who support us. Its tiresome, and costly and overwhelming some days. But we will keep going. Together, with your help, we make a difference.

We keep saying we are not a kitten rescue (Somebody has a sense of humor) but we keep finding them or we are literally handed them when we are out feeding. We don't get the easy ones that are clean and healthy. Ridge is blind. Bristol is very sick. Brick is Brick. And Rico is a purring machine. (Rico is also a Manx - no tail). We need all of the good vibes, prayers and support we can get right now. Our schedules are packed and even more so with such tiny, fragile lives depending on us. All of these kittens weigh about a pound or just over. All are under weight. We are doing everything we can to get them healthy.

Today is our very own Super Trapper Karl's birthday!! This man goes out every night and feeds cats, he also makes sure everyone has their meds here at the Misfit Ranch, he goes to nearly every vet appointment, he bathes Panjo every day, he holds every little guy that we have had to say goodbye to while they cross the rainbow bridge and he helps take care of all the Misfits we have here. He is a true Cat Daddy! Please join us in wishing him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I have included our information in case anyone wanted to send a donation in honor of his birthday

Last night Trapping Queen Natasja and Super Trapper Karl went out and trapped community cats.( Candy did trap one cat.) Karl loaded up the Catty Wagon and headed towards Brandon at 5:30 this morning . We had free spots at Harmony Vet Care for community cats. We took in 9 with 6 of them being female. These sweet babies will no longer reproduce kittens. We are grateful for the opportunity Harmony Vet Care gives us to bring these cats in. We have hopes Polk County will one day offer the same type of programs.

Get 'em fixed in 2026!!!!

JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU’VE SEEN IT ALL 👀

What a wild rescue mission we’ve been on the last few days. We were contacted by a staff member at a local Winter Haven elementary school about a feline family living in their storm runoff pipes 🛁

We’re entering kitten season and hurricane season so obviously we couldn’t ignore this chaotic mission! Well it took 4 days but we were finally able to trap the 4 kittens AND mama AND (maybe) auntie (?!??!) 🎉 with the unwavering dedication of the school counselor who not only showed up to let our trapper on campus but actively helped trap and care for the kitties throughout the entire process ❤️

The kittens are headed to foster to and the beautiful adult ladies are headed for their “spa” day and then 🤞🏻hopefully 🤞🏻to barn cat life which is way better than street life 🎊

Thank you so much to everyone involved and please share so that the school and staff see how appreciative we are for their help and support 🥰 Putting the COMMUNITY in community cats 🐱

No matter how many times we say “we’re here for the community cats, we aren’t in a position to take in kittens or surrenders…We also can’t turn our back on the community when they are genuinely trying to prevent the growth of a community cat colony. These kittens didn’t ask to be born on the street or raised in a runoff drain by a mama cat doing her absolute BEST to keep them safe.

So while we aren’t set up for long-term foster or kitten intake, we will never turn our back on the community when they are committed to helping animals. And sometimes that means spending a few hours upside down in a drain runoff pipe trying to hand-catch kittens. Good thing our trappers aren’t afraid of creepy crawly bugs & spiders 😳

But we couldn’t do what we do without the support of other rescues who are better equipped to provide long term care for these salty cat-nap victims 🙏 Big shoutout to Second Chance Whiskers for committing to taking in these babies and their siblings ❤️
