Summer may be approaching, but authorizers know this season is anything but slow! From closing out the school year and preparing for renewals to planning trainings, reviewing applications, and supporting schools for a strong start to 2026–27… there is always something happening behind the scenes.

As charter school models continue to evolve, authorizers and governing boards must be prepared to thoughtfully evaluate innovation while maintaining strong oversight practices.

This Learning Lab, supported through the Pathways to Prosperity Grant in partnership with Career Academy Network of Public Schools and WestEd, is designed for:
• Local authorizers
• State authorizer staff
• Board members
• Anyone interested in engaging thoughtfully with emerging and innovative school models

Participants will engage in conversations around innovative school models, career-connected learning, quality oversight practices, and considerations for sustainable implementation.

Career-focused innovation requires strong systems, thoughtful oversight, and collaboration across the education community. Through Pathways to Prosperity, we are bringing together school leaders, network leaders, authorizers, and state leaders to learn from one another and strengthen high-quality pathways for students.

This work includes:
• Communities of practice for school and network leaders
• Learning labs for authorizers and state leaders
• Research opportunities to better understand the impact of career-focused models
