Last night, the Northwestern Community College Foundation hosted its 2nd annual commencement reception! Faculty, staff, and students joined foundation trustees and community partners to celebrate the class of 2026!

Big shout outs to Lori H., who has been our elected student representative on the Board of Trustees for the past two years! Next week, Lori will be walking across the stage at commencement and we wish her the best.

We would also like to thank Christina M., who was our student speaker this year. Christina is the outgoing president of the Associated Student Government at CT State Northwestern and a remarkable young person.

And we are looking forward to working with Clara N. next year as the elected student representative for the 2026-2027 school year.

Congratulations to all the graduates at CT State Northwestern! We couldn't be prouder!

Before day two of Give Local kicks into gear, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to those who have already supported the Northwestern Community College Foundation during day one. It never ceases to amaze just how far and wide the reach of CT State Northwestern is and how we have friends not just across CT but up and down the East Coast.

As of this morning, we have raised $1,610, which is 54% of our goal! That includes hitting the $500 goal for our Visual Art and Design Program, which works year-round at making sure all our students have access to experiences that enhance their education and broaden their worldview.

With another grant from the Northwestern Community College Foundation, Matt of MY Productions CT came back to campus to kick off another 4-part cooking program, Cooking from Scratch.

The first dish the students are making this semester is pizza! After a lesson on how to make dough and sauce, students got to make their own! And with a little extra dough, some even experimented with new designs.

This program is open to students and community members. Students can RSVP via Engage and community members can sign up by contacting the CT State Northwestern library!

This semester, our students had the opportunity to engage in Cooking from Scratch, a four-part cooking series that teaches students the cooking fundamentals! Once a week for four weeks, students learned how to make pizza, pasta, tiramisu, and ravioli under the entertaining and informative instruction of Matt Yanarella of MY Productions CT.

It was great to see how the act of cooking together brought out lots of laughter and teamwork!

This program was generously supported by a grant from the Northwestern Community College Foundation.

On Friday, students from CT State Northwestern (and a few other CT State campuses) visited the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams. Breaking off into two tour groups, students were guided through exhibits that expanded their understanding of the way art and life interact. And after lunch at the cafe, they were able to explore the museum on their own.

This trip was funded in part through a grant from the Northwestern Community College Foundation.
