Did you hear these GIV alumni live on Vermont Public last Friday afternoon?

“Really Excited, Really Scared” is a story that begins at our 2026 Global Issues & Youth Action Institute and continues after the Institute with a masterfully curated collection of thoughts, ideas, experiences, and reflections from the alumni and staff as they returned to their communities.

Together, their messages paint a mosaic of Vermont teenagers’ perspectives and offer something powerful, insightful, enlightening, and inspiring for adults to hear. It reflects the collaborative and communication-driven community of the Institute and how the experience ripples into our interactions after coming together.

Hope you can give it a listen— you’ll come away inspired.

Looking back on the 2026 Health & Medicine Institute, Part 2!

The Health & Medicine Institute was all about exploring many pathways and careers in medicine by getting hands on and experiencing it with real doctors, nurses, surgeons, EMTs, and professionals as their guides. Each day spent on the UVM campus was jam-packed with learning, exploration, friends, games, and practical training to teach, inspire, and show everyone how we can make a difference and save lives.

Special thanks to the incredible team at NVTAHEC and UVM Office of Primary Care and AHEC Program who partnered with us to make the Institute a success!

This past weekend we hosted a conference for the National Conference of Governor’s Schools, also known as NCOGS! Of the 25 States that have Governor’s Schools, 13 different programs traveled to Vermont for a weekend of connection, sharing, learning, and collaboration.

What we learned is this: no matter where in the United States you might be, there are people who care about young people and are driven to create opportunities through education, community, and adventure. The teams that coordinate Governor’s Schools across the country share our passion, our humor, and our mission to change lives and create bright futures. It was incredibly inspiring, thought-provoking, and affirming to work with such a wonderful group of educators.

Big thank you to the wonderful programs who traveled far to bring their ideas, experiences, and passion to Vermont, including...

Impact today. Transform tomorrow.

Today is national DAF Day, and it’s a great opportunity to put your donor-advised fund to work for Vermont’s next generation!

A gift to GIV helps make meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities possible for high school students across Vermont. From exploring healthcare and engineering to creating art, studying the climate and developing new ideas, GIV gives young people the chance to discover their interests, build confidence and imagine what comes next.

If you have a donor-advised fund, consider recommending a gift to GIV this DAF Day. Your generosity today can help shape what’s possible for a Vermont student tomorrow!
