VWW is committed to creating learning andwork environments where people can pursue careers and passions free from bias or discrimination, and find economic opportunity and independence. In 1987, VWW was founded to support women to enter male-dominated skilled trades. Since then, VWW has evolved to support youth to explore rewarding career options, women to find economic security, and employers to make equity universal to better support Vermont’s workforce needs.

Our Trailblazers teamed up with the Town of St. Johnsbury Recreation Department this past weekend to put their new skills to work - replacing a door and building steps for the warming huts at St. J’s two outdoor ice rinks.

This summer, three Hartford Trailblazers completed hands-on internships with Earthshare Construction LLC.

When asked about their experience hosting, Earthshare President Ethan Cole shared, “It gave us the opportunity to both teach and learn from new people, and gave us a better understanding of the barriers that people have historically faced when getting into our industry.”

In 2026, three participants from VWW’s Trailblazers program in Hartford completed hands-on internships with Earthshare Construction.

There’s a new memorial bench in the recreation yard at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility!

The bench was the culminating project of a five-session Trailblazers program offered by VWW inside the facility. The cohort was a successful example of how hands-on workforce development programming can support skill-building and re-entry preparation.

That's a wrap on Women Can Do 2026!

Last week 400 high school girls and gender-expansive students from across Vermont joined VWW and over 75 employers for a day of career exploration.

Students explored STEM and trades careers through hands-on activities like welding, operating heavy machinery, tree climbing, and much more!

We’re still looking for a few more volunteers for Women Can Do in Randolph on October 8!

Women Can Do is VWW’s annual STEM and trades career exploration conference for high school girls and gender-expansive youth.

VWW relies on the support of volunteers to make Women Can Do possible. From helping to set up and break down tables and chairs, to prepping materials for students, to greeting and directing students around the VTSU campus, volunteers are crucial to making the career exploration conference a positive, impactful experience for students. The deadline to sign up is September 20.
