When Heather Norton founded Village Spa in Brandon, it filled a void in the community. Where before customers had to travel far for the spa services offered here, such as massage, facials, waxing and other treatments, Norton provided a community-focused space for health, wellness and pampering.
With customizable services, the staff at Village Spa aim to give customers exactly what they want and need. Like many Vermont business owners, though, Norton was starting small when she founded the spa. As a result, it can be difficult to secure financing with traditional banks. After two other banks were hesitant to work with her as a small business, Norton found Opportunities Credit Union.
"They were good at helping me to brainstorm different ways of doing things, and explaining specifically what I needed to do," said Norton of working with the credit union and business development staff.
