Bethesda Mini Camp 2026 is now in the History Books. We had an incredibly successful year. Campers came from eleven different communities including Arizona, Blair, Creighton, Fremont, Hartington,Kennard, Laurel, Norfolk, Omaha, O’Neill, Plainview, and Winnetoon. They came because they’d been to camp before and wanted to come back, they came because they were invited by someone, they came because a family member had gone to camp years ago. They came to an old church building that was established as a camp over fifty years ago by a group of people who had a vision. Sadly, there are old church buildings throughout the area that sit vacant and are going to ruins or have been converted. But in tiny little Winnetoon the old church comes alive again every summer because of a vision of folks fifty years plus and the commitment of a group of young people who carry on the dream. Why, why take the time and effort to keep the camp alive? First of all because they love the Lord, secondly because they love young people and because they choose to honor a tradition and the people who started and maintained the camp for years. The camp is maintained solely by volunteers and donations and yet in the past few years they have added two cabins and acquired and cleaned up adjacent property. Volunteers come from the area and from as far away as Blair, Fremont and Missouri! The leadership team continues to look to the future and with that in mind they have determined that it is time to update or rebuild the existing bathrooms and shower house which are older than the team members. The upgrades are intended to keep the camp alive and active and will be funded through donations and fund raising. Please continue to follow along with us as we pursue this project and look forward to Camp 2027!
