The article that we submitted for the paper last week didn’t make it in, so we will just share it on Facebook.
Kolach Days are right around the corner and that means final practices are being held by the Verdigre Community Chorus as they prepare for their performances of “wEGOT the Songs” - an evening of award-winning music with connections to Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award winners. EGOT is an acronym that refers to people that have won an award in each of these categories. There have only been twenty-two people that have completed this feat, and there are several that are very close to completing the coveted status. The chorus will perform some selections from the EGOT winners, as well as individual award winners.
This year, there will be an additional opportunity to attend a performance on Tuesday, June 9th which will coincide with the arrival of hundreds of BRAN riders in Verdigre. Please note that this show will begin at 6:00 p.m. The shows on Thursday, June 11th and Friday, June 12th will start at 7:00 p.m. Performances will be held at the Verdigre Public School gymnasium.
General admission is $10 and under 12 is $5. Reserved seating cost is $12 and can be purchased by calling Wilma at 402-358-0724.
The chorus, under the direction of Laurel Johnson, and accompanied by Nancy Pavelka, has twenty-three members participating in this year’s Kolach Days performances. Besides Verdigre, members travel from Creighton and Bloomfield. This year’s singers are: Regina Paesl, Sharon Boham, Dayna Klawitter, Clarlynn Shelton, Janet Frank, Mary Gehring, Marie Vondracek, Sydney Hochstein, Jane Bartos, Carey Krepel, Wilma Vakoc, Karen Sonder, Shelly Carstens, Betty Marshall, Coleen Reiley, Keely Hildebrand, Brad York, Alan Sonder, Ken Smith, Richard Eisenhauer, Marvin Hochstein, David Nagengast, and Ken Tusha.
