KTF - RFB

Robert “Bobby” “BK” Kilduff Jr. was a highly respected, third-generation member of the Boston Fire Department and a 24-year veteran assigned to Rescue Company 2.

Known throughout the department as a “firefighter’s firefighter,” Kilduff dedicated his life to protecting the people of Boston while carrying on a proud family legacy of service. A U.S. Marine veteran, devoted father, and deeply admired brother in the fire service, BK was recognized for his courage, humility, and unwavering commitment to the job.

On May 23, 2026, Firefighter Kilduff made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while battling a three-alarm fire in Dorchester. He suffered fatal injuries after falling from the third floor of a burning building during rescue and suppression operations.

His death marked the first line-of-duty death for the Boston Fire Department in more than a decade, sending shockwaves throughout the firefighting community across the country. BK’s legacy will live on through the countless firefighters he inspired, the family he loved, and the city he served with honor and bravery.

Congratulations to the Instructor Cadre from the Connecticut Fire Academy who successfully completed their FSI-II Certification Course.

• EXCELLENCE THROUGH TRAINING •

This week, a group of Connecticut Fire Academy instructors successfully completed their Fire Service Instructor II certification.

This isn’t just another credential. It’s a commitment to getting better at the craft of teaching and delivering training that actually makes a difference on the fireground.

At the CFA, our instructors don’t stand still. Through our Instructor Development Program, they continue to sharpen their skills, challenge themselves, and raise the standard across the board.

Better instructors lead to better training. Better training leads to better firefighters.

That’s how we move the fire service forward.
