Holly Rood

Holly Rood The home of Governor James Clark is ready for holidays, parties and special events. Check our site- hollyroodevents.com for ideas and info.

Holly Rood was completed in 1814 the same year as our National Anthem was written. The house was built extra strong as the devastating earthquake had recently shaken the south east. The bricks were fired on location using native clay. The woods in the house came from the surrounding area. Holly Rood is a lovely example of the classic Federal style House. Thw Winchester / Clark County Heritage Comm

ission oversees the care of the building. Used primarily as a rental property for weddings, parties, and dinners, the Commission envisions a more educational role in the future.
