Trails of Wilton Hiking Club took on Weir Preserve yesterday afternoon! 🖌️🍁🥾

Wilton Land Trust teamed up with Wilton Library to guide this hike along Pond Trail and into Nod Hill Refuge. We walked on tree-lined paths, crossed brooks, and passed vistas of the beautiful Weir Pond.

There was quite the crowd at our last Books & A Blanket⁠. Superheroes, unicorns, skeletons, astronauts, and princesses enjoyed spooky stories and songs, a paper pumpkin craft, and trick-or-treating through the meadow! 🎃⁠

We are sad to say that our fall season of Books & A Blanket is over, but we will return in the spring! 🌷☀️ ⁠

6 posts and 40 fence rails were replaced by Troop 20 of the Boy Scouts and our very own Chainsaw Gang in a single afternoon! Thank you for your hard work and for caring for our Sylvia Keiser Preserve on Seeley Road!

Beech Leaf Disease, discovered in the U.S. in 2012, was first recorded in Connecticut in 2019. Since then, it has become widespread throughout our state, endangering the survival of American beech trees. ⁠

Dr. Cameron McIntire and Chris Rizzo will share the ecological significance of this disease and the action being taken at Colhoun Preserve to combat it. You will also learn how to recognize BLD on your own and what to do if you find infected trees. ⁠

Our Executive Director, Whitney, led the Wilton Library's new hiking club, Trails of Wilton, on a hike around Schenck's Island last week! 🍂

Did you know that the Wilton Land Trust owns and maintains a part of Schenck's Island? Our section of land and trail is in the southernmost portion, marked by two kiosks you will see on your way in and out.

This hiking club meets monthly and showcases the incredible nature and trails in Wilton! Water and trail mix are provided, so lace up your boots and join us outside!
