Founded in 1921, the Wilton Garden Club is a civic-minded organization dedicated to education, conservation, preservation, and beautification. It is a charter member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc. and the National Council of State Garden Clubs, now known as National Garden Clubs, Inc. The Club boasts an active membership comprised of a highly diverse mixture of women and men of
all ages. The common thread among them is a love of gardening and a commitment to Wilton. While the Club does have its fair share of master gardeners and industry professionals, a large percentage of new members are novice gardeners who want to learn more about gardening. Members also greatly benefit from the Club’s monthly lecture program, which features well-known personalities from the horticultural world who speak on a whole host of topics. Following the lecture, the Club holds a short business meeting with lunch served afterwards. Members have an opportunity to get to know one another better at these meetings and through their work together on the Club’s various committees. With 25 different committees, members are never at a loss to find something that suits their interests. To finance its various endeavors, the Club hosts an annual plant sale, held on Wilton’s Town Green on the Friday and Saturday before Mother’s Day. This Mother’s Day Plant Sale is the Club’s primary fundraiser, and all members get involved in planning the event, as well as digging and donating plants from their garden or the garden of another member. We welcome you to get involved in the Wilton Garden Club.
