Our next Member Spotlight is Wilmington Hope House!
Hope House was created out of a desire to provide a safe, welcoming place for women experiencing homelessness where they can meet their basic needs, including having a safe place to eat, shower, and sleep. As an emergency overnight shelter for women and accompanied children, Hope House serves an important role in our community as the only low-barrier shelter for women in the county.
We are completely supported through the generosity of local organizations, businesses, churches, community members, and private donors who believe in our mission and the women and children we serve. As our ministry continues to grow, so does the need for additional space and resources. While we work toward the long-term goal of purchasing a new location that will allow us to expand our services and better meet the needs of our guests, we are committed to making improvements to our current space in the meantime.
At the heart of Hope House is our belief that community is vital to creating lasting change. We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers and community partners who make our work possible, because without their time, compassion, and support, there would be no Hope House. We believe in leading by example and giving back to the community that continues to invest in us. As our guests become stable and are ready to take the next steps forward, we encourage them to become involved in their community by volunteering with local nonprofit organizations.
Through this shared commitment to service, compassion, and community, Hope House strives not only to provide immediate shelter and safety, but also to help women rebuild their lives and become connected, contributing members of the community.
